Been a fan for years. Best burgers and fries in town. Going to Bethany Beach with the family in August and they even have one there now.
-
Morrissey said Meat is Murder. Therefore I don't eat meat.
-
Most gimmicky: yes. Best: no. Lindy's Bon Apetit at 21st & I has better burgers by far
-
Oh GOD, Lindy's. So many memories of college, being drunk, and eating their burgers.

That's a bold statement. Never tried lindy's, but I'm down that way for work sometimes...I'll give it a shot!

Not a big fan.

Anybody tried Elevation Burger in Falls Church?
-
Eh, I tried Five Guys the other day. The fries are good but the burger was nothing special. In-n-out on the west coast has the best burgers I've ever had.

Yeah, I was just gonna say we need one of those here on the east coast.
-
I had a friend who was a vegetarian - not because she liked animals, but because she really hated plants.
-
I'm SO going to In-n-Out when I'm in LA in a couple of weeks! By far my favorite burger.
-
If we could merge In-N-Out and Thrasher's, then we'd have the perfect burger joint :D
-
I know I was happy a week or so ago whenever we were back home. I think i got the rest of the tour hooked on 5 Guys like it's crack!
We had some place called Bill Gray's in Buffalo that's suppose to be "amazing!" it was far from it...couldn't stack up to the 5 Guys! :)

They're pretty good too! Ever tried Tommy's out there? Insanely good chili burgers and chili dogs.

Isn't that's nice. But has anyone actually ever yet read yer blog?

I stopped eating the meat about 8 months ago, but before that I loved a good burger.
For fast food I was always a fan of the basic McDonalds cheeseburger.
For a really tasty and inexpensive burger you can't beat Lindy's down by GW.
For a sit down, get waited on joint Hamburger Hamlet has a pretty top notch burger.
Now I'm a fan of the veggie burger that Houston's serves up, almost tastes like the real thing.

Carl's Jr. is just Hardee's by another name, isn't it?

Ditto. No me gusta bag o' grease.
-
the funniest thing about five guys is how they'll put a bunch of napkins on the top of your bag (if you get takeout), right on top of the bundle of greasy ass fries. you pull the napkins out and their basically transparent from the grease. sorta defeats the purpose.
that said, i love me some five guys.

Barnaby's in Silver Spring. They sell beer too.

carl's jr. bought hardees a few years back and instituted carl's jr.'s menu (except for breakfast, i don't think carl's does biscuits and gravy). before that, they were two completely different style of fast food places (i always liked hardees' fries better than mcdonalds, but that was before hardees was bought out, so i don't know if i can still say that).
-
Yes, people do read it. And not just people I know. So there.

Does that mean Hardee's has the Carl's Jr. "superstar", I believe that's what it was called. Messiest thing I ever loved to eat.

good WashPost aritcle (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/02/AR2006040200723.html)
i'm hungry now.

This is pretty spot on:
The Washington area is densely populated, and lately a good chunk of that population is in the habit of coveting things that are slightly better than what everyone else has.
-
Jeez...I had no idea there were so many. Usually not a good sign. I've only ever eaten at the arlington one (closed now) and the baileys x roads one...
-
Lindy's is coasting on a reputation they cemented 20 years ago. It's not as good as it used to be, though still worth an occasional crosstown ride on the 30 bus.
Five Guys is definitely yummy, although the crowds, the dangerously greasy fries, and the mass-production ambience can get a bit tiresome.

Here's the best kept secret in NoVA. JR's steakhouse at Tyson's serves hamburgers only on weekdays, but IMHO they have the best burgers I've ever eaten. They serve only beef from cattle raised specially for them, and grind small quantities for their burgers, and grill 'em on a very high-heat grill. Can you spell "carcinogens?" (but who cares?) JR's burger and a giant bloody mary...once a year for my birthday. Yummmm...just look for the ridiculous (but once functional) windmill off International Drive just down from the Crate and Barrel building. ..Hey Shad: You're my hero! Good on ya for going vegetarian.
-
...clarification: burgers served only on weekdays AT LUNCH only...sadly.

Fatburger is better than In-N-Out burger..
