lacking a search function, i am unable to look up the old "mo' hip hop happenings of the day", or whatever the name of the musicians & the law thread was. so here's a new one. and predictably enough, we kick things off with ms. whinehouse... she's such a pervert.
Winehouse is arrested by police (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/7150811.stm)
Singer Amy Winehouse has been arrested in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by appointment at an east London police station. She is currently in custody."
Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, has been remanded in custody charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice as part of the police probe.
Mr Fielder-Civil, from Camden, north London, appears in court next month.
Cancelled tour
He is also charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.
It is alleged that he, along with 39- year-old Michael Brown from Holloway, north London, attacked pub landlord James King at the Macbeths public house in Hoxton, east London, in June last year.
Police also suspect they then conspired to pervert the course of justice by offering Mr King a significant amount of money to withdraw his allegation and leave the country.
Two other men facing the same charge are Anthony Kelly, 25, from Chalk Farm, north-west London, and James King, 36, from Risley, Derbyshire.
All four have been remanded in custody until next month and are expected to go on trial in June.
Ms Winehouse has been in the headlines all year after reports of drug use, rehabilitation treatment and cancelled performances - as well as awards success and a best-selling album.
She cancelled her remaining UK tour dates following her husband's arrest.

No, Pete Doherty has talent. There's as much good stuff on "Up The Bracket" as there is on "Back to Black." That gets obscured with all of Mr. Doherty's travails but for about two years, The Libertines were worth all the hype they were given.

Doherty is way more talented than Winehouse. Get a clue, old man.

They're both talented, though Winehouse has put out two excellent albums solo, and Doherty was part of a band that put out exacly one excellent album.

I don't know. I think both "Frank" and "Back to Black" are both half great albums. Actually, the best Amy Winehouse album is probably "Motown Junk: The Singles" by Amy Winehouse.
"The Libertines" is sort of rushed production-wise but there are some GREAT songs on there ("What Katie Did", "Last Post on the Bugle", "The Man Who Would Be King", "What Became Of The Likely Lads" and "Can't Stand Me Now".)
So, it's close but I'm going to have to give it to these guys:

Yeah, I agree. I was defending the Libertines album that he thought wasn't "excellent." I think he was saying Winehouse has two great albums and The Libertines have only one great album ("Up The Bracket".) I was defending "The Libertines" as a very GOOD, maybe great album.

who cares about your damn thread? can't you just appreciate the fact that ggw, brian wallace, rhett and hoya are having a calm, rational discussion about music? it's a christmas miracle!
for the record, i think that second libertines album is a tad underrated. it's no "up the bracket" but there are a few winners on there.
