lets talk about angels & airwaves, not the horrid baseball team this beautiful city has. :-)
-
oh no i dont know what people are talking about but i suppose we should get ready for a barrage of lol, omg and various other internet abbreviations!
-
Haha, yeah, I think someone called this one in another thread.
-
i really think losing Ayala is going to kill the Nats ... we relied so heavily on our bullpen last year, and now that he and Carrasco are gone, it's going to be tough to find guys to get to the Chief
-
so are any of you guys buying tickets tommorow? ahhh cant wait.
-

Nope I've already got my Nats tickets as well. My friend has a 20 game package 2nd row RIGHT BEHIND HOME PLATE! Including one of the O's games at RFK...also going to the Nats O's pre-season game in a few weeks. Now if the weather would just freaking heat up a bit....

im not talking about the nats, im talking about the band Angels & Airwaves..
-
alec, in case you didn't get the hint...nobody on this board cares about bands like angels and airwaves and motion city soundtrack. lol. maybe you should take this discussion to absolutepunk.net.
-
lol

I was! I could care less about the Nats.

Angels in the Outfield is my favorite movie too.
-
i might buy tickets for this show just to put on ebay. i hope angels and airwaves fans are as stupid as blink 182 fans.

#9 is one of the best in that series...edged out only slightly by #'s 7 and 4.
-
I always liked 4-6, also known as the badunkadunk trilogy to porn connoisseurs the world over.
-
WOOHOO!!! i got my tickets!!! ;)

sorry but a lot of people do like them. :)
-
that's why this thread evolved into an intelligent discussion about who's attending this show and who likes this band, right?
-
hahahaha exactly. but chokeychicken. can you name some bands that you like just so i can like see what your intrested in?
-
nobody was judging anything that you like. i never said that the music i like is better than yours. all im saying is, know your surroundings. this is not the board that cares about motion city soundtrack or taking back sunday or brand new. this is an adult dominated message board, and by the sounds of things, you're about my age. 18-22. i'm just saying...people on this board like belle & sebastian and madonna and the beatles. ahhaah. kidding.
but seriously. i was never trying to be insulting. i was just trying to say...take the hint. you're going to find a lot more intelligent conversation about the stuff you want to talk about on other message boards.
-
is there any chance that this band will have any more staying power than box car racer?
outlook not so good

hey, i'm 24 and i take offense to the "adult" label ... let's see, dupek can't be much older than 15-16, and i think there's a good chunk of 20-somethings on here

i think Dupek is 50 actually. yes, i dont think the board is that old. I am in my 20s and i certainly act like a teenager most of the time. but no, that doesnt mean i like Assholes and Airheads or whatever they're called.

This thread is yet another case where the super cool regulars here can't just leave something alone if it is of no interest to them. Instead they have to make themselves feel funny and smart by making fun of what others, likely half their age, are listening to.
In all the years that I've been reading this forum this particular habit is by far the most disturbing.
-
at least we dont go to the shows and start fights....a little harmless messageboard jabbing is no biggie!

I'd say you be careful...calling a mod a whiny vagina could be cause for banishment from our sarcstic little kingdom.

i go to shows simply to kick little girls in the face.
is there something wrong with this?

Really, by who? You? I think I can live with that. I mean being called names by a faceless forumite won't cause me to lose any sleep.

Yeah i know you guys wouldn't bounce anyone. I mean...take a look around at some of the unsavory characters here that are accepted with open arms.
Now back to your duties you whiny vagina!

Haha, not quite. I was just saying that the last time I said something similar to what Shadrach just said, I was called a "whiny vagina" by everyone's favorite poster for sticking up for someone who liked music that most boardies don't like. Definitely wasn't calling Shadrach that myself... in fact, I agree completely with what he said.

angels & airwaves is said to be around for a while unlike box car racer. box car racer was just a side project while angels & airwaves is a full blown band

C'mon, cut the kid a break. Shadrach is right, no reason to keep going on because someone likes a band the majority of forumites don't like or care about.
That said, Alec, you should realize by now that the general age of the members here is a lot older than you so our musical taste probably won't be the same. If you don't get as many responses to posts as you'd like, or get snarky ones like some on this thread, it's just because our musical tastes are probably different.
Look at the Just Announced or What Are You Listening To threads; there aren't a lot of Blink-182 type bands mentioned.
Anyway, to contribute to the thread, Angels & Airwaves is getting a BIG push by their label, it's probably going to be a big release.
-
im very excited.
i'll be there.

thanks man for your opinion, really. but I still want to know what you so called 'older people' listen to. like when i go see shows at the 9:30 club, there are plenty of older people and all over my bros are in their 20's so its not like im scared :)

Well i don't listen to too much current stuff, but a few bands I like now that are active are....
Brian Jonestown Massacre
The Hold Steady
....And you will know us by the Trail of Dead
Marah
BRMC
Dead Meadow
The High Dials
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
For the most part I've really been stuck in a Bob Dylan/Bruce Springsteen rut lately, which I'm sure would seem really square to a lot of 15 year olds...like "Dad" music or something.

i think arlette is mistaken ... it's not that the people on this board are older (although most probably are older than 15), because people of all ages listen to some pretty fucking horrible music ... it's rather that everyone posting on this thread are assholes who look down on you and are ridiculing you for the music you listen to, regardless of your age ... cheerio!

Alec, you'll find some like-minded folks who are STOKED about the A&A show -- keep posting. Hmm, stoked is probably really dated slang...whatever. You will, and enjoy the show.
