First, all the women of the board can consider this my official apology for language used in another thread against a cherished female boardie. Completely out-of-line.
As a way of making amends, I am offering to buy any female boardie who was offended 2 tickets to the non-sold out 9:30 club show of their choice. Simply PM me before 2pm on June 24th, 2008 with your show choice and mailing address and I will make the necessary arrangements.
The following restrictions apply:
- This offer is only good for currently scheduled shows at the 9:30 Club, not Merriweather or Virgin Mobile Festival or any other IMP shows.

- The show cannot be sold out.

- The cost of said show cannot exceed $25 per ticket + ticket charges.

- The boardie may be asked for proof that they are a female (i.e. a myspace account or tasteful photo), if such is not obvious from their username, since I have already demonstrated I am not aware of who is male or female on here.

- All female users requesting free tickets must be registered, regularly-posting members of this board prior to June 17th, 2008. Guys cannot get their girlfriends to register simply to scam me out of tickets.

- I am absolutely not responsible for mix-ups at the club's will-call window or non-delivery by the US Postal Service.

- I absolutely reserve the right to deny this offer to any boardie for any reason I see fit.

Thanks for fixing that. I don't see how any lady would not forgive those two similing gents.

First you call a woman a bitch and now ...in an effort to make up for it, you you're attempting to buy off the women of the board? Wow. Wow. Wow.
'Here honey, have some money... now now. That's better, isn't it?'
[plz note, i'm actually kidding. but i hope no woman actually takes you up on this because it really is a bit insulting.]

I just hope you all remain this vigilant for fair and equitable treatment of women all the way through November when you vote against Obama.

I was unaware Obama was a wannabe sugar daddy calling women bitches. But now that you mention it...
-
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
-
You know, I felt this was a nice gesture, Miss P. Talk is cheap, but I'm choosing to put my money where my mouth is. I supported fair treatment for women when I donated money and campaigned for Hillary, and I'm doing it now.
If I offended someone I knew in real life, I don't consider it out-of-line, or sugar daddy-esque to apologize and perhaps give them a gift as an act to try and show I still value their friendship. It's the same here: I'm sorry and I value the contributions of our female boardies so I don't want them mad at me. You can take it at face value or not, that's your prerogative.
-
What is that, Billy Madison?
-
Ugh, you people are so frustrating. I'm trying to do something nice and you're all acting like I'm a jerk. :(
*sulks*
-
I know you're going to find this hard to believe, but in spite of my male sounding screen name, I am a woman.
And I was offended. You calling a woman a "bitch" is as offensive to me and my fellow females as Vansmack's strip club stories are.
I'll be thinking about which show I want tickets to.

You're right, I voted against Hillary PRECISELY because she is a woman.
If only she was a black woman...

i like it better when youre a hyperbolic, take no prisoners blowhard

i hereby declare June 17th to henceforth be known as "WEBLEBRITY is a bitch" day, because, let's face it, it really can be. the appropriate form of celebration is to buy tickets for a woman you've recently insulted. the official drink of "WEBLEBRITY is a bitch" day is a gin & tonic. currently accepting submission for the official "WEBLEBRITY is a bitch" day theme song (with "the bitch is back" being the obvious front-runner).
happy bitch day!

Wait a minute, I got stoned today?

I'm switching my vote to the Ben Folds version of "Bitches ain't sh!t" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_N3CK-6CHk) from the Dre version I posted in the other thread.

the appropriate response to this is "happy day, bitch!". not only is the correct for the occasion, it has the additional benefit, when said to a woman, of creating a recipient for the tickets you need to give away.

Can somebody please add this to their Outlook calendar for 2009 so we can remember to post about it next year?
-
already done - i did that immediately after i created the holiday. i live by my outlook calendar. i'd probably forget my own birthday if it wasn't on it.

...or mention they have to blow him in the back bar!!!

black is the new president, bitch
-
sheeit, I have no idea what's going on, so I have no problem accepting free tickets. Except that would be taking advantage.
-
Read the *seemingly* innocent "this week rollcall" thread.
This is a sspinoff of sorts.
-
whoa, all this over the word "bitch?" hot damn, we're a bit sensitive, aren't we? I suppose I shouldn't make a PMS joke, in that case.

no no no, as a woman you're allowed. it's men that aren't allowed joking about such matters, or even insinuating that PMS exists. it's a double standard in the name of equality.
-
you stole the ticket idea from me.
-
true. you got tickets to give away, homey? :)

The Director, if I'm not mistaken.

Ahh yes. Definitely the director.
Some sort of race-associated comment that got misconstrued, no?
-
it had something to do with race, and i was indeed way wrong in what i said. i felt like such an total ass, and the free ticket was the only thing i could come up with. i met him (director) at the smashing p. show, and he told me he thought it pretty awesome in what i did, and was willing to admit my utter foolishness.

strange how this particular mea culpa didn't work out so well for julian.

Oh id gladly take up Julian on the offer - but Im still trying to figure out when Ill be in DC next and the dates im looking at - i dont yet see any shows at the 9:30. Im always up for a free ticket :) - Ill be there some weekend either the week or week after lolla.

I haven't been on here as of late, so I don't know what happened. I'll probably eat crow, but sounds like a nice olive branch if you ask me. (I've been offended once or twice here, rec'd an apology, didn't happen again, the end.)
This is a music msg. board where not everyone knows one another "really"...so it's definitely a nice offer to buy a ticket to a show. I wouldn't expect a gift if I knew you offline, a simple apology would be fine - followed with a positive change in behavior. You seem to have gotten the first part right + a gift offer. If apology and overture not accepted, don't sweat it, just learn from the mistake and move on. :)
Oh, and some comments here are classic. Thanks for the laughs.
