Title: Best turntable under $175?
Post by: Charlie Nakatestes, Japanese Golfer on February 05, 2008, 02:47:00 pm
So my old turntable is giving me problems, and it may be time for a new one. Anybody have an opinion on what's the best to get under $175? I'm not a vinyl junkie and don't intend on becoming one, but do have a sizeable amount of vinyl that I listen to that I don't intend to replace with digital media.

Is direct drive better than belt drive? My old turntable is belt drive. My belt wore out and I replaced it with a new belt, and after a couple of plays with the new belt, it appears that it now is playing my lp's too slowly.

If Orpheus isn't closed yet maybe you can get a quality used one there for cheap.  I sold them my old Technics last year when I cleared out my vinyl

I have a used Numark TT 1510 that works pretty well.  It's belt drive though, and I guess I would generally recommend direct drive.  Seem to be less trouble.
