Besides Plant/Krauss, "Yawn"
-
"Sigur Ros"
Hey seth?
-
Eight to ten bands that I certainly can see under otherwise much more ideal conditions to don't make it worth the trip, the heat, etc...
-
My thoughts exactly.

i also feel this way, but the following bands are not necessarily going to to be playing anywhere nearby:
Pearl Jam
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
Sigur Ros
Metallica
i'm not saying that all of the above are worthy of a road trip, but the chance to see them in one place does has its attractions.

I love the Black Kids. Hoping for a US tour soon, as they're in Europe right now.
-
Disagree about Pearl Jam, a recent Ten Club email hints at the band having a very busy year.
Don't get me wrong, I found Bonnaro to be a well organized festival... But, depending on the schedule it gets damn near impossible to see some of the headliners and bigger acts from a decent vantage point if you are wandering between the other stages. Plus, the only mainstage headliner I'm truly interested in seeing is PJ, but membership has it's privileges for me on their own tour.
-
I think the lineup is great, or at least on par with last year's. I'm getting excited.
Edit: What's with this article? (http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/music/777781,bonnaroo020608.article) It was written on the same day the lineup was announced...confirm or debunk, anyone?
-
"Edit: What's with this article? It was written on the same day the lineup was announced...confirm or debunk, anyone?"
I think this is a massive oops, as the lineup has "Lez Zeppelin". It's an all female Led Zeppelin cover band.

When did the email go out? *suspects it got caught in the spam filter*

Why is that an oops, seeing as Led Zeppelin was rumoured as once playing the festival, why not schedule a tribute band because the real thing isn't available.
PJ have confirmed...

There's a rumor floating around that they may play All Points West. Them and Radiohead would be amazing...

Black Kids are the new Vampire Weekend.
Hurry up and love/hate them before your friends do.
-
my morning jacket's profile has really shot up in the last three years.
-
ticket pricing:
first bunch: $209.50 each
second bunch: $229.50
after that: $244.50
this line up isn't enough to lure me to TN again. i'm feeling much like most of you do-- crossing fingers for pearl jam and sigur ros somewhere closeby! and i'm looking forward to that REM/modest mouse/the national show the day before!

yeah, it's really kinda ridiculous. i was considering going to their radio city hall show, but it sold out instantly - i tried pulling tickets seconds after onsale, and got "not tickets available" right away. didn't realize they were THAT big. when did MMJ become an A-list band?

Get with the program man. The Black Kids are last week's hip band, this week is all about Fuck Buttons.
-
the main rumor on the Bonnaroo messageboards is that they'll announce Led Zeppelin as a headliner after tickets have been onsale a while. it is odd how last night news outlets like the AP immediately announced that led zep was headlining and then took down the article with no retraction statement.
-
that would be cool, but why would they have Lez Zeppelin on the bill?

I figured someone saw Lez Zeppelin on the bill, read it incorrectly and got overexcited. Just a guess.
-
yeah, but on the other hand if they did book Led Zeppelin how else would they announce it without being unfair to the people that go to Bonnaroo every year? Tickets would fly as soon as they confirmed zep as headliner so if they booked them I could see how a late announcement would be to everyone's benefit.
-
I thought Page was pretty clear that nothing with Zeppelin would happen until after Plant's tour with Allison Krauss.
-
..but then again, what about the zeppelin fans? This would lead to scalper's dream and tickets selling for an insane amount of money. I hope Zeppelin will just do their own headlining tour.

I'd much rather see an all lesbian Led Zeppelin cover b..actually, I'd rather just see any random group of lesbians than the actual Led Zeppelin.

Gawd....I feel like such a square....
I can see Azaghal digging Fuck Buttons, but not much mass appeal. Or maybe that's just my inner hipster backlashing.
R'n R Hotel march 30th.
-
I do dig Fuck Buttons. :)
Very psyched for that show. Still also yet to see caribou; another act that I've dug for a while.

I didn't get that PJ email. Still happen to have it?
-
This fest > vfest for me, i see over 15 acts I'd want to see.
Too bad I can't go. Damn class reunions.
-
I won't go because there's only a handful of bands I'd want to see, and they likely all won't play the same day. Plus, as mentioned before, Pearl Jam is doing a larger tour this year. Plus, Nicole Atkins is already playing R&R Hotel and I've seen Metallica twice and at least a dozen of the other bands.
Who I'd see:
Pearl Jam
Robert Planet & Alison Krauss
The Raconteurs
O.A.R.
Iron & Wine
Talib Kweli
Mastodon
Robert Randolph
Nicole Atkins
Please outdo this, V Fest.

how about waiting until vfest announces its lineup before saying that?
-
It takes massive balls to say that you'd see OAR on this board.
So while your honesty is admirable, your taste should definitely be derided.

Here's the important bit
Dear 10c member-
Happy New Year!
We're all really excited about 2008 and we really hope you are, too. While it's still too early to make any big announcements, we want to let you all know that the band is looking forward to a busy year ...
(the rest goes on to talk about the VERY limited vinyl release for vedders's solo album)
-
i'd rather go here than coachella.
-
when do you think theyll announce lolla?

from the lolla faq (http://www.lollapalooza.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=85901&mpage=1&key=&):
Q: When will the lineup be released?
A: We do not yet know when the 2008 lineup announcement will be made. In 2007, the initial line-up announcement was on April 12.
Q: When will I be able to buy tickets and how much will they cost?
A: We do not yet know when the 2008 tickets will be available, nor how much they will cost.
since i have family in chicago, my presence at lolla is pretty much guaranteed.

Haha, I'm not ashamed of anything I listen to. O.A.R. has a few catchy songs and they're decent live.
Who would you suggest I see?

It's the venue for me. While I can market and get people to go to Vfest, I couldn't do it. Nothing against the promoters, it's just the venue is awful, and really truly, you'd have to bring a band that I'd never, ever, ever, ever see again there like a one off. I think it's a great idea, I just personally could never go. (plus, major crowd anxiety at shows + no respite from it unless you leave the grounds completely = bad combination : ) )
Plus, I can't afford spending 1/3 of my rent on a 2 day show when most likely I'd be missing half the acts i liked anyway. :)
