i'm not a big fan of golf, i don't really consider it a real sport... but tiger woods is simply amazing.
Tiger won US Open with torn ligament, 2 fractures (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080618/ap_on_sp_go_ne/glf_woods_future)
teh wowz.

I'd like to see the results of his drug test after the 91st hole....
-
If he was superhuman, shouldn't his ACL and ligaments be impervious to injury?
-
does the PGA have a drug-testing policy?
what drugs do you think he was on? couldn't be on pain killers, they'd f*ck him up too much - man needs to be able to concentrate. beta blockers, aderol, other nerve/concentration drugs? maybe. possibly some light steroid use?

They do not (yet). I think it goes into effect next month.
If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say this Tiger Woods abscence is a little peculiar. But I'm not.

next thing you'll tell me is that Michael Jordan didn't retire to play baseball.

it's a bummer about him not being at the at&t national, but still should be a good field, i'm looking forward to spending my july 4 morning out at congressional

It's fucking golf!!
There's a pro-golfer (Casey Martin) who is disabled, so walking around with bad knee is no biggie.
-
i could care less about golf, and i dont even care that tiger can do no wrong according to the sports media...but isnt it a little stupid for him to play for a whole year with no acl

yes, and he stank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Martin). he had one small win that one him a spot on the PGA for a year through exemption, in 1998. yawn.
come back when you can point to someone as consistently dominating as woods and/or can win a major under similar physical hardship. i'm not impressed by golf either, as previously stated, but this was an incredible feat.

Nobody really watches golf anymore do they?

haha

So woods has had this boo-boo his whole career then huh?
I didn't say he was good, I just said he did it. But he has to be pretty eff'n good to turn pro.
But that's all I'm going to say on the matter, I've spent way to much on this subject anyway. Golf... it's like lawn darts, only wearing plaid and winkle-pickers.

It was because of gambling debts. Everyone knows this.

you would. but my post was a spin on Tigers quote about hockey.
anyway, i completely disagree...while it may be watchable and even quite interesting sometimes...
and this "drama" which happens 4 times a year. at the most. and it adds to about as much TV time as the Stanley Cup Finals do.
this thread makes me feel like i'm watching ESPN..gag....
-
oh i thought you were zonging tiger for saying no one watches hockey anymore

you were right.
its hard to imagine anyone would find golf more exciting than hockey on the surface.
-
I watch hockey. And Golf. And NASCAR. And Soccer. And women's tennis, depending on who's playing, but not men's tennis, no matter who's playing.

you mean golf on ice? now that you mention it...
-
Does anyone remember the tv ad the Caps had running at one time that the catch phrase was, "Golf would be better....if it was hockey"?
I tried to youtube it but couldn't find it.
That ad pretty much sums golf up for me.
