Title: Any good local bands?
Post by: jabella on June 19, 2008, 11:32:00 am
I'd like to support the local scene, but I've seen some dud bands lately.  Any recommendations for DC bands that are worth the time and gas money?  Any style but metal.

Caverns (http://www.myspace.com/caverns) is my newest enjoyment. Got to see them open up for The Bakerton Group last Friday at the Black Cat.

I'm biased, but I also would recommend Honeychuck (http://www.honeychuck.com)  ;)

 MindCage
 Mindless Faith (http://www.mindlessfaith.com)
 Deep6 Productions (http://www.deep6.com)

I'll check these sites out.

Anything altcountry would be great.  Also any bands with cool guitar, without getting into hard rock or metal.  Indie sounding with a hot chick would be good too  :)  - it's gotta sound good though.

If you like early 80s British post punk, it's tough to go wrong with The Antiques.  They're nice people as well.

The Hall Monitors are the awesomest band I've seen in a while!

And then there's that band that practices twice a week over on Girard St. NW.   They're pretty good, I would love to know who they are.

If you like bands like R.E.M, the Lemonheads or the Wrens, I'd recommend The Known Unknowns (http://knownunknownsdc.com/).

DC is hurting when it comes to good local music.  Last local band i liked was Canyon.
