Title: The show conflict to end all show conflicts
Post by: azaghal1981 on June 19, 2008, 04:00:00 pm
Mission of Burma V. Silver Apples V. Datarock V. Thievery/TVOTR...

 Are you fucking kidding me?

All should be excellent. This shall require much mulling over.

Thievery if you know what's good for you.

TVOTR will be playing new shit.

Ladytron's latest album is pretty great.

 The pit should be fun!

Datarock.  You get to see them in an intimate enviroment and its only 13 bucks.
The TC/LT/TVOTR show is enticing though...

That's kinda where I'm leaning.

And pit tix are still available last I checked.

But I haven't been completely swayed away from the other three.

 Thievery/TVOTR that is.

Silver Apples -- chances are, they'll be dead long before the others.

I'll be at TC/TVoTR
I've never seen Thievery and TV on the Radio's live show KILLS. I can't wait to hear the new stuff.

It's just one dude now.
The other died a few years ago.

The problem with that is that Ulrich Schnauss is at the Velvet that night. It may be another three years before he's back in DC so he definitely will not be missed.

I'd be hitting the Burma show if I wasn't out of town that night.

burma is one fogie band that still kills it, even if roger miller looks like cameron diaz's retarded brother from "there's something about mary" up on stage.

thievery will play plenty of shows, tvotr are extremely overrated, ladytron peaked 5-6 years ago.

if velvet's running on normal velvet time, catching silver apples after MOB is probably realistic.

Ladytron/Datarock - Sonar (Friday)

Mission of Burma - BC (Saturday)

You might be able to catch Silver Apples afterwards, ...

forget Thievery and their mediocre and forgettable vocalists.

Thievery alone wins this. Add TVOTR and Ladytron and Federico, and OMG.

The Burma/Apples double header sounds very enticing.

skip Thievery. They'll be back. Go see one of the other shows.

If I go to that show, it'd be more for TVOTR than anything.

Afternoon t-storms/evening showers on saturday. Starting to lean toward Burma->Apples.

TV on the Radio is SOOOOOOOOOOO good live though. I've already seen them twice - including at Virgin Fest when they were playing to a larger, outdoor crowd. They still fucking brought it.

Just get tickets in the orchestra. Even if it does rain, who cares. It's not like its going to be another Radiohead show or something.

Yeah the club show I caught in april '07 was excellent.

Probably did permanent damage to my ears but still...

seeing Birdland (aka Celebration) and TV on the Radio open up for Firewater at the Ottobar a number of years ago was probably one of the best shows I have ever been to in my life.

9/21 - Cocks at Ottobar versus Gojira at Fillmore versus Lush/Tamaryn (I am leaning towards Cocks)

10/28 - Shonen Knife/Natural Velvet at the Ottobar versus Puerto Rico Flowers at Windup Space versus Gorguts/Intronaut at Metro Gallery (I am leaning towards PRF for this one... That is a super rare show.  Maybe I can at least catch Gorguts set as well, if they don't play at the same time)
