Okay, I just called the radiostation to see if they had anymore updates about this show and he said that there were going to be some slight changes to the announcement made this morn, and that tomorrow morning a more concrete announcement will be made. Thats 103.1 in Baltimore, Annapolis and DC. Best of luck to everyone trying to get tickets...

 Hopefully it will be Merriweather!

Excellent!  Do they still have shows there?  I remember that amazing Rollins Band/Helmet/Sausage show that got canceled due to intense rains.  Too bad I was stuck there with no way to get in touch with my folks who had driven me.  Good times.

I'd take RFK over Nissan any day but it's probably about as likely as Ft. Reno.

I'm pretty sure they stopped having shows at Wilmer's Park years ago.  Something about the guy who owned the land wasn't permitted for shows or something.

ooh, i noticed this when buying tix for petty.  ticket price is lower through live nation; however, they charge MORE in fees.  in the end, total cost is about the same ... i think!

so if i car-pool out to nissan, we pay $24 for a parking spot (4 people in the car X $6 each), whereas anyone driving solo is only paying $6 to take up a spot?  thus creating less incentive to car-pool, thus making traffic to nissan worse... ugh.  then again, having everyone stop to show a parking pass or pay for parking might be equally delay-causing... might be worthy of study.

If you have a problem with the commute, venue ,Radiohead's environmental policy, their methods of album release, Thom's bowel movements on stage, their sell-out status, politics, etc. Make a stand and boycott them!

All people ever do is bitch about this band. I still find enjoyment in what they do and happy they still tour at all. just my 2 cents.

I'm going to try like hell to get tickets, actually.  I haven't seen them.  I had tickets for the Bull Run disaster.  When they came through last time (was it Merriweather?), it was sold out before I could take a shot at seats.  Nissan isn't the best place to see a show, but I'd rather go through traffic and (possibly) have crappy seats than not go at all.  What am I supposed to do here - wait until they hit the club circuit?

nissan is a total pain in the ass but at least it is on a sunday so you do have the option of leaving early and tailgating a bit without having to deal with rush hour traffic.  getting out is a different story...but leaving any major concert/sporting event is never a speedy process.

that's kind of how i'm feeling.  i think i'm going to wait for the second leg of the tour and see what's going on and travel to it.  twelve times i've seen radiohead, and eleven times i've driven at least 300 miles.  what's one or two more times?
toronto x3, montreal x3, california, atlanta x2, nyc x2... who cares if they're playing nissan.  places like parc jean drapeau are better.

I agree.  We decided we're skipping the Nissan show and waiting for the summer leg to be announced... some interesting cities on the list that will make for a nice weekend trip.

i think nissan is he worse that i've experienced.  getting out of fedex isn't as big a headache, and it holds almost four times as many people.  it's just bad design - those little access roads that connect nissan to the outside world are woefully inadequate for that size a venue.

if the charlotte place used to be named 'blockbuster', then yes, i've been there.  generic amphitheater.  easier to access than nissan pavillion, though.  i'm pretty sure it is the same place.  i have my sights set on the gorge.  hoping they play there.

Bearman is feeling very old...it's one of those moments where I am content with the memory of seeing Radiohead at the Black Cat in 1995 on the Bends tour, when it wasn't even sold out. On a Saturday night. With David Gray opening. Yes, you've all heard that story many times before, but the point of it this time is that this is one of those moments where I've seen a band I really like enough times that I don't feel like it's the end of the world if I miss them this time around. Anyone else have similar experiences with other bands? It really has more to do with logistics, venue, etc. than being "over" the band. It's just the thought of having enjoyed the other experiences so much that I think that there's not much of a way to top them.

The show you saw @ the Black Cat AND the band you saw that night are hardly even comparable to what they are in '08. I caught the OK Computer tour @ a tiny club just before it broke big.

My preference?: I'll take the latest incarnation any day.

I need some reassurance:

The Nissan show didnt specifically say PIT (other locations did).

The General Admission tickets are for the front area correct? NOT LAWN?!?!?

I really hope the GA tickets were pit, the price was the same as the reserved price, and the same as ticket masters reserved/pit price.  I hope that if they were lawn they would have been cheaper, otherwise WASTE just sold me lawn tickets at a 50% markup!

I hope not...

 Check the pre-sale mainlist.

 2 options for each location:

 Reserved, and
 General Admission/Pit

Nissan is the only location without the PIT modifier.

Price was still $61.00. The highest cost.

Anybody get confirming info that GA  is indeed the PIT?

Agreed.  The detail oriented part of me is slightly concerned about the variation in listing - but they gotta be PIT.

Yea... I got some reserved seats...but I noticed Dallas it only said GA standing, not pit also. But I'm thinking that GA does mean pit just because its the radiohead website and why would they not want to give the best seats....I'm just happ I got tickets any whoooo.... and are the WASTE seeat tickets generally really good seats anybody know?
Title: Re: Radiohead - discuss possible venues here
Post by: jb1677 on February 14, 2008, 10:45:00 am
The waste seats I got a few years back at Merriweather were alright but not "great" (left center ~ 25 rows back).

The best of the best tend to already be in peoples hands, yesterday on Stub Hub there were numerous GREAT tickets for sale for insane amounts.

O well, I just hope "GA, Standing" really means pit at Nissan.
Title: Re: Radiohead - discuss possible venues here
Post by: eros on February 14, 2008, 10:59:00 am
One has to assume that "GA" tickets are in the pit since they cost the same as the seated ones.  On Ticketmaster the lawn tickets are of the cheaper variety.  Still it is strange that they labeled it differently than the other shows.

My waste tickets I got for Philly last time were great - 7th row in the center.

Either way, it beats screwing around with it on Saturday.

Title: Re: Radiohead - discuss possible venues here

i'm 99% sure that the GAs we bought today were pit.  would be happy to bet on it (hey, football season is over, gotta find something to take its place     :)     )  we paid $61 for each ticket, which corresponds exactly to the highest price on TM.  they also have cheaper tix at $41 - those have to be lawn.  i've never heard of anyone getting bad seats through waste.  now accepting all wagers.

i got 4 GAs for nissan right off the bat, then 2 seats for houston.  after some refreshing, i got 2 for dallas (i have a ton of friends to visit in TX, what a great excuse to go spend a long weekend there).  and after a TON more refreshing, i hooked up another boardie with a single to nissan - at around 9:40.  perseverance paid off.

GA Standing absolutely must be pit. There is no way they would charge the same amount as reserved for lawn. Don't worry about it.

you eff'ing nervous nellies: from  Official Ticketmaster site. Radiohead tickets Nissan Pavilion Bristow, VA, Directions, seating chart. (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/15004044C969538E)

Additional Information:
Gates will open at 6:00pm. This event has a GENERAL ADMISSION PIT. There will be no seating in the pit area and location is on a first come, first serve basis. For the location of the pit, please use GENERAL ADMISSION PIT seating chart.
Ticket prices include $6 parking fee.

rusty: in the past waste tickets have been will-call.  apparently this time most of them will be mailed (although i've also read that waste is reserving the right to make any tickets will-call).

You do know, just to spite the release of a "Greatest Hits" album, they aren't going to be doing anything approaching a "tune," don't you?
Why don't you just get one of those cheap Casio keyboards, program it go "bleep-bleep-bloop" and mumble in some pissy Oxford accent about how the Earth is doomed and how George Bush is Satan?

I just got 3 reserved seat tickets, I've had the page up all day and randomly would hit refresh. They said that while they don't plan on putting out additional tickets, if people refund them they will put those back up for sale. Right after I got my 3 (and 3 was the max they'd let me get), it said it was sold out again. So it's worth it to keep trying.

it's PIT - don't worry. i shouldn't have said anything. just noted the difference & wondered. once the TM sell site goes live tomorrow morn - we'll get the drop down boxes & it'll clearly show that PIT were $61...Lawn $41.

check out the prices already on ebay. lawn going for $199. looks like some re-sellers are buying the listings from yesterday already think they were priced too low: orig price of 2 PIT was ~ $349. Now it's up to $499.

I think you may be misled on the popularity of this tour.  It will do very well, but I doubt (with the economy) if every show will be an instant sell out.  The anticipation of "In Rainbows" isn't the same as the rabid anticipation of "Kid A."

To be fair, there wasn't really much time for anticipation to build up for "In Rainbows," since its release was announce just 10 days prior. And yeah, it probably won't be an instant sell out, but they really don't need to waste money on TV ads. But I guess Live Nation has plenty of money to throw around...

but i'm willing to bet that within 40 mins of onsale, all 100 & 200 seats at Nissan are gone as well as the front half of the 300s (that would be rows A-G, see  seat map (http://seatingcharts.livenation.com/ballena/nissan_pavilion__bristow_va/)).   talking pairs here, not random singles.  in my books, that would be darn close to a sell-out.  and by sunday 1 pm, no more 300's left.  care to wadger a beer on either one of those assertions? in case anyone considered taking me up on my previously stated bet: you would have owed me a beer.

my first pull was a pair in the 200s, after that it was all 300's or lawn.  pairs in the 100's and 200's were gone by 10:05.  pairs in the 300's were gone by 10:18.  singles in the 300's were gone by 10:22.  i had a 4-person chat session going with workmates and friends who were all desparate to get tickets, one dummy kept holding out on placing an order.  lawn is all that's left now.  in my books, this show was an effective sell-out.

Picked up 3 individual tix, via Ticketmaster, and via Live Nation, within 30 minutes. The TM one was Sec 101, Row E, Seat 1 (extreme far right), The first LN one was Sec 103 Row R, and finally at about 10:30, the second LN one came up and it was a PIT.  So I am a very happy man.  Sorry Mom, going to see Radiohead that day!

if i remember correctly, high numbers in 103 = far side (as are low numbers in 101).  your view of the stage will be good - go  here (http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/793)  and click on the Interactive Seating Map (3D) for an approiximation of what you'll be seeing.

and in other news, someone who i bought a ticket for (304 row C) is now being a d*ck and telling me that he now doesn't want it, can't afford it b/c of his upcoming vacation, blah blah.  i'll let you know if it becomes available.

was up at and ready to get my ticket from ticketbastard at 10am. I guess I got too greedy and had two windows open to try and get the best seat. I got section 102 row B and I paused for a second and thought about it. In the other window I wanted to see if I could get a pit. No luck then all of a sudden I was locked out of getting my seat in 102. I was like CRAP!!!!!!! Then for the next 20 mins I tried to get a ticket but the thing kept refreshing forever. Finally ended up geting a seat in 303 5th row. It was a seat right? Little pissed that I lost that 102 but oh well. Then I come and look here and it says that livenation still had seats. DING DING, YAY!!!! I got a 201 row B at 12:50. Now to figure out what to do with other ticket. Maybe just sell it at the show.

i'm curious to hear from those who "got tickets through livenation" - because when i go to livenation.com and hit "buy tickets" for the show, it takes me to ticketmaster.  did LN have it's own ticketing system up earlier today?

i would strongly recommend finding a buyer for your ticket ahead of time.  nissan is in outer space - very few drive all the way out there in hopes of snagging a ticket.  the chances of you not selling the tickets on site are pretty high, IMO.

Yeah earlier in the day Livenation had its own selling thing.  I guess later on when you clicked on them they connected you to ticketmaster.  I guess I lucked out when I looked at 1250.  I mean I did get a seat from ticketmaster but just wanted something closer.

Probably Jimmy Buffet or maybe Dave Matthews, but I'm not sure.

DMB for sure.

U2 would do it, but they don't usually play Nissan.

RH to play 2 nights of the APW festival:

    pitchfork (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/48841-radiohead-to-play-all-points-west-festival---twice) -  urb (http://www.urb.com/permalink/2325/Radiohead-to-perform-TWO-nights-at-APW.html)

for those loathing both festivals and nissan pavilion, RH should be playing philly (AKA camden) in august as well.

makes me wonder what RH is going to do over two nights.  they're playing to the same crowd, so they can't play the same set.  they're headlining, so they have 1.5 hours (if not more) to fill.

obviously they'll play most (if not all) of In Rainbows, but it would be cool if they also played an entire album from start to finish.  they can choose any one, i'm not picky   :)

I was thinking about this earlier. Obviously, I think we're assuming it's going to be two completely different sets since it's the same audience. I was thinking it'd be cool if day one was Pablo Honey-OK Computer, and day two Kid A-In Rainbows all chronologically, but I think alot of people would be pissed with night two.

Classic case of a band playing 2 nights in the area anyway...it just so happened that there is a festival in the area...

according to pitchfork, "Looks like those rumors about Radiohead playing the inaugural edition of the All Points West Music & Arts Festival were true, as reported by URB Magazine and subsequently confirmed. (...) Radiohead will headline the first two nights, August 8 and 9."

so stop being a doubting thomas and join us in the what-will-they-play game     :p

julian, i'd be hunky-dory with your proposed setlist.  no complaints whatsoever.

Yeah, folks like ourselves would love something like that, but there's still a contingency out there that'd hate a Kid A to current show. Not sure if they'd be at APW, but whatever...

They will play an almost entirely the same setlist with 3-5 song variation, like they did in 2006.

I'm not actually a fan of the playing an entire album in a live setting idea.  I think a live show is special because it's different from the albums--if I wanted to hear all of Kid A, I'd just put on Kid A.  I think the power of a great live show comes from the unexpected setlists, reimagined compositions, and general audacity that an album doesn't really produce.

As for those who think Radiohead will play essentially the same set two nights in a row--I believe you're dead wrong.  This isn't the same as merely playing two nights in the same city--as is being noted in nearly every article about APW, this is the first time one band has played two nights of a major American rock festival.  Radiohead knows that everyone will be watching and expecting them to do something spectacular.  I think they will respond and play two wildly different shows.
