why is he coming to merriweather?

probably because IMP offered him a substantial sum of money to perform there.
the next step is to sell tickets to people that want to see him perform, so that IMP can make that money back and maybe even make a profit.
the people that buy the tickets then get to come to merriweather that night, and mr. stewart will most likely tell some jokes.
it's a new system. hopefully it works out.
-
stewart sucks at stand up to be doing that big of a venue.
-
stay the fuck home then
-
All money aside, I bet Seth really loves the personal high of doing his job day-in and day-out. It must be nice to have such an appreciative audience out there.

I think it would be fun to see him. When is he going to be there?
-
Any time he needs his ass kissed, he need only come to this board. A heckler now and then probably won't bother him.

He'll more than likely perform most of the material from his new album, with some old hits thrown in.
-
i thought this was John Stewart, from the Kingston Trio.

I think the same....and another chance to enjoy Merriweather. If I can get decent seats, I'd go....

I dunno...this whole new system does seem a little complex. I mean do you have a diagram I could possibly see how this works and has it been done before?

okay smartass i understand that part, i just didnt know stewart did stand-up, and even so i would think they would book him at a indoor venue like the warner or something. but hey, more power to merriweather and seth im sure it will sell

but what if, god forbid, he refuses to (http://mediamatters.org/items/200410160003) be our monkey?!?! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmZkw169xEI)
by the way, last night's daily show was fantastic, the will ferrel interview was a classic, neither of them ever broke character
-
me thinks you might want to reconsider calling thatguy a smartass :)
depending on the weather this would be a good show to hang out on the lawn for, give the nice video screens installed out there.
-
Why not just put your tv out on your lawn and watch the Daily Show?

-

you see ryan . . . this is a board of "smarties" who enjoy proving their place in the world as being equaled by noone else. tattoos, piercings, and other desecrations to the skin seem to be all the rage with coolness. your initial question didn't gage to some preconceived level of what a nine thirty attitude should be. it should of have gone something like this:
why is john stewart playing at merriweather? i thought he was a comedian, and isn't an outdoor venue in the fall a weird place to perform? wouldn't it have better for him to do a "traveling" version of his show, with others as crutches to his comedy act? maybe even bring back colbert and frank d.
-
gotcha, okay and yes im am willing to admit the initial question sounded very stupid, i just really couldnt figure out how to word it correctly, so it came out looking very stupid. but still i think that performance may be very interesting, too bad i will be away for college otherwise i would consider going
-
Would OnTap consider this worthy of their "all inclusive bus trip"? If so, that would be sweet.

i dont get it
so jon stewart buys the tickets? and we make a profit? or jon stewart makes a profit? and seth tells some jokes?
will we be patted down upon entry? and can i jump over the fence if i dont have a ticket?

agreeing with someone's ideas, or even understanding them, does not equal kissing someones ass. but i suppose explaining this sort of stuff to a small town farmboy who once thought he was gay until he found his wife in the Pennysaver is wasting my breath.

99% do. and jon lovitz isnt funny, first of all, and secondly he's old, everyone's a standup comic these days...that where they find them all. since SNL isnt funny anymore!
-
jon stewart is a great stand-up, and a much more "well-rounded" comedian than you see on the daily show - where of course the focus is political comedy. did a show at constitution hall a couple years ago. if i recall there was some, but not a lot of political stuff. more sex, drugs, family, everyday type material you don't see from him on tv.
wouldn't mind seeing chappelle at merriweather to ease ticket demand and lower prices.
haven't seen a comedian play a venue this large since i saw the Diceman at a sold-out Capital Center back in the day. oww!

i'll defer to your obviously expert opinion regarding the comedy world
i will defend jon lovitz to my death. to my death!!

sorry. comedy is an art like anything else.
my comedic opinion is no more expert than anyone elses.
i dont find Lovitz to be funny, and i thought, at least, that SNL was no longer the leaping pad to stardom is once was.
those subways commercials are annoying though, you have to admit!
i loved him in Brave Little Toaster though :)

feel free to call me a smartass, especially any time i reply smartassily.
your question was open ended, i was bored, it was late. there you go. nothing personal, i promise.

Does anyone have the presale code for this?
Jon Luvitz was awesome in his small role in Happiness.

He's performing for the Folk Club of Reston. He's one of my favorite songwriters, but I've got California Bloodlines so what could one expect?

didn't see him at constitution hall, but i did see him at the warner in 2002. that was a pretty good performance.
