From NY Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/31/arts/31arts.html):
Mashing It Up With Bootsy
A few years ago, mash-ups - eye-opening musical juxtapositions created by D.J.'s blending pieces from different songs - were the latest underground sensation. Then, last fall, Jay-Z, and Linkin Park released a collaborative album, "Collision Course," and the mash-up went mainstream. Now a new festival, AmsterJam, is coming to Randalls Island on Aug. 20 to celebrate the form with a roster of incongruous big-ticket pairings. Snoop Dogg will rap with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band 311 will play with the rapper Fat Joe, and the band Garbage will perform with Mos Def; a pairing of "two major Latin artists" is also promised. The curator of the event is Bootsy Collins, the legendary funk bassist who is something of a stylistic mash-up himself. Tickets go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster.

Maybe they can get Michael Jackson to play with Aaron Carter.

I wonder how long they'll be able to hold onto that name. The AmsterJam in Amsterdam had to change their name because AmsterJam is already in use somewhere.
And tickets go on sale Friday for a show not even announced yet. Talk about not creating any hype. I've found nothing else on this besides the NY Times article.

where's the sir paul mccartney & ringo with jay-z jam?

i think this is a good idea for a show, but they took themselves too seriously.
perhaps a mashup then ass kicking would be more exciting, something like:
Dashboard Confessional plays with Metallica and then Chris and Lars duke it out after their set is over.
or Beck vs. Tim McGraw , i could see that being a good duel!
