I'm surprised there's not more chatter about these shows

I'm REALLY looking forward to the St. Paddy's/Tuesday show... never seen them before

I saw them in '06 and thought it was amazing, better than back in the 80's.  I saw them last year and it was really forgettable.  I am debating going on Wednesday night this time.

If someone who goes on Monday or Tuesday can post a review or setlist, I would greatly appreciate it.  It will help me decide whether or not to go this time.  If they are playing enough different stuff and reports are that it is good this time, I will probably get swayed into it.

Song for song the same setlist I posted above.

I hope they at least change a few things up in the next two nights.

Matilda or Fairy Tale would be nice.

That is a great setlist, but I will pass if that is what I would be in for on Wed.  It's just a bit too much "been there, done that" if you have seen the last couple tours.

It is sad that they have seemingly dropped Fairytale of New York from their sets, as you said.  That was amazing in '06 with Shane waltzing with the female singer at the end of the song while fake snow showered down from the ceiling of the club.

As I was walking down the road
A feeling fine and larky oh
A recruiting sergeant came up to me
Says he, you'd look fine in khaki oh
For the king he is in need of men
Come read this proclamation oh
A life in flanders for you then
Would be a fine vacation oh

That may be so says I to him
But tell me sergeant dearie-oh
If I had a pack stuck upon my back
Would I look fine and cheerie oh
For they'd have you train and drill until
They had you one of the frenchies oh
It may be warm in flanders
But it's draughty in the trenches oh

The sergeant smiled and winked his eye
His smile was most provoking oh
He twiddled and twirled his wee mustache
Says he, I know you're only joking oh
For the sandbags are so warm and high
The wind you won't feel blowing oh
Well I winked at a cailin passing by
Says i, what if it's snowing oh

Come rain or hail or wind or snow
I'm not going out to flanders oh
There's fighting in dublin to be done
Let your sergeants and your commanders go
Let englishmen fight english wars
It's nearly time they started oh
I saluted the sergeant a very good night
And there and then we parted oh

As I went down to Galway Town
To seek for recreation
On the seventeenth of August
Me mind being elevated
There were passengers assembled
With their tickets at the station
And me eyes began to dazzle
And they off to see the races

With me wack fol the do fol
The diddle idle day

There were passengers from Limerick
And passengers from Nenagh
The boys of Connemara
And the Clare unmarried maiden
There were people from Cork City
Who were loyal, true and faithful
Who brought home the Fenian prisoners
From dying in foreign nations

And it's there you'll see the pipers
And the fiddlers competing
And the sporting wheel of fortune
And the four and twenty quarters
And there's others without scruple
Pelting wattles at poor Maggie
And her father well contented
And he gazing at his daughter

And it's there you'll see the jockeys
And they mounted on so stably
The pink, the blue, the orange, and green
The colors of our nation
The time it came for starting
All the horses seemed impatient
Their feet they hardly touched the ground
The speed was so amazing!

There was half a million people there
Of all denominations
The Catholic, the Protestant, the Jew, the Presbyterian
Yet no animosity
No matter what persuasion
But failte hospitality
Inducing fresh acquaintance

Its a shame they don't do much from Peace and Love. I think that's their best album by a mile.

I think they started at about 9:45 and ended around 11:30. Watch the crowd on the floor. It got kind of crazy down there--I was on the fringe of it  ;D

So thanks to Azag I saw the rough setlist they are playing, but can anyone who went Monday or Tuesday comment on how the shows were?  How was the band's energy, etc.

I might still go on Wed. if I can get a ticket for about half price, which seems possible.  On craigslist, prices are dropping fast.

No lack of energy on the part of the band, although a bit sloppy at times.... Personally, I thought the band hit it's stride more often during the non Shane songs.  Show wasn't nearly as good as the 2006 one, when the band was very much at the top of their game.

"Fun and sloppy" is how I've been describing it. Slightly higher energy level from the band last night.

ED:And the only setlist change last night was the switching up of Metropolis and Body of an American.

I went, too as I got a ticket for $25.  Not nearly as good as they were in '06, but better than last year.  I wish they had mixed it up some from last year, though, it seems like it was an almost identical show.

One funny thing last night was seeing several people being kicked out of the club right when the show ended.  I've seen that a couple other times lately (at Drive-by Truckers, for example).  I know you need to get rid of people causing a disturbance/etc. and enforce the rules up to the last moment, but it is just a funny image to see people getting kicked out as everyone is filing out anyway.
