OK, so I own the definitive bossanova record (Stan Getz/Joao Gilberto). I love the "Next Stop Wonderland" soundtrack, and got a great record by Ike Quebec ("Bossa Nova Soul Samba").
So what next? Any suggestions? I'm really, really getting into this stuff lately and I'd love some suggestions. Not sure there are many of you that would know or are into jazz/bossa nova, but I'm really into the Brazilian sound. Oh, and I also really enjoy the stuff compiled by David Byrne...all the 70's Brazilian songs on "Beliza Tropical". Thanks in advance.

I'm only hip to the pop bossa nova covers of 80's-90's songs by Nouvelle Vague. Weak sauce I know, but thoroughly fun.

Nouvelle Vague is cool...I like their sound, and that's the right track...I'm seriously digging the stuff from the 60's though. It's just really suiting my mood lately. Thanks Smackie.

try Caetano Veloso. Definitely influenced by Joao Gilberto.

bearman, you're an insider/scenester - ask rob and eric (of thievery), they're huge fans of brazilian music. i hear they have a killer collection of bossa nova on vinyl.

I went through a bit of a bossa nova phase, let me look through my stuff... but definitely get the soundtrack and see Black Orpheus, as it's the movie that introduced bossa nova to the world. just last year the definitive version of the soundtrack was released.
