famous people are allowed to be assholes.  the pedestals we put them on gives them that that right.  read the fine print before you define a town full of idols.

What's the band name?  The Rude Amateur and Three Real Starving Musicians?  No really, just so I don't accidentally catch 'em opening somewhere.  I was a little lukewarm to Billy Bob before, now there's no question:  What a tool.  Kudos to the interviewer for not calling him "out" on the air.

That was an uncomfortable interview. Yeesh!

gotta give the interviewer credit for staying on task and making the best of a bad situation.  i know i couldn't have pulled it off... i either would have started being flippant and escalating the situation until it imploded, or (more likely) i would have fallen apart and become useless.  ok, more useless than normal.

and no discussion of bad interviews is complete without a mention of thom yorke being awkward (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyaqqZVJR1c), although in this case i blame the interviewer for continuing to push something that thom obviously didn't want to talk about.  oohhhh, how edgy.

He doesn't only act like a jerk, he looks like one too. What's with the goat landing strip just below your garbage can. Just after you say the stupidest thing ever, you keep on talking. I suggest you move to a place where they can't understand English. And quickly.

Does anyone remember Harmony Korine on Letterman, around the time Gummo came out?

I remember that being epic back then.

Billy Bob Isn?t Really Sorry, Blames Marines: Tuesday night Billy Bob Thornton explained to Jimmy Kimmel that the Marines were to blame for his rude-dude and totally weirdo behavior during his recent Canadian radio show interview. And that it?s no biggie because he acts like that all the time. (http://pollstar.com/blogs/news/archive/2009/04/23/662919.aspx)

I think i may have this on tape somewhere, but back in 1994, pavement was on 120 minutes with lewis largent as the host.  i remember lewis asking malkmus all these ridiculous questions about pavement songs and malkmus finally saying something to the effect of, you have completely misinterpreted nearly all of my songs.  it was amusing to watch lewis largent get schooled. . .and considering that these weren't "live" i can only wonder what was left on the cutting room floor.

So if Malkmus does it he's cool, but if Billy Bob does it, he's a douche?

Billy Bob will get a pass as soon as he writes something as killer as Debris Slide.

So if Malkmus does it he's cool, but if Billy Bob does it, he's a douche?

He did write Slingblade and One False Move, they were both killer, and included some killings.

to clarify, the cool part was watching someone destroy lewis largent's credibility. . .it could have been anybody, lewis largent was an idiot who had no business hosting a music program.
