I've been waiting for years to get a browser other than Microsloth's Internet Explorer. IMHO the Mozilla/Netscape developers stumbled several times. Everytime new and "improved" release was slow, buggy and often deleted shortly after install.
So lasst night I dowloaded the latest version
Firefox version 0.8 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) and so far it rocks like a MOFO. On my "ancient" 233MHz laptop it loads pages faster than IE. It's got the same great features as Safari on the MAC . Tabs, Built-in popup blocking, Integrated Google Searching, etc (Safari was developed using Mozilla code)
With the OS X, and Windoze, version of the Firefox I can now get a googlebar (http://googlebar.mozdev.org/), which is something I always missed when using Safari.
So far Firefox gets a thumbs up from me. One will run into websites which lazy developers built using propritary IE features, but those sites should be avoided like the plaque anyways.

Anyone else have anything to add on this? I hate using micrsoft products. I'll at least try it out.

I'd recommend checking out a browser called 'Slim Browser' It's built on IE, but it's much, much better. Suprisingly, faster than firefox and more reliable with things like Java...

i have an older version of mozilla, safari and ie on my home machine, and ie is the least desirable. some stupid websites are poorly coded for ie only, so i keep it. like my company's site. so i have to use ie at work.

firefox is okay, but it has some problems dealing w/ ads. if they can get to a 1.0 release and keep the name for more than four months it should take off.

So, I d'loaded up Firefox. Nice browser. IE is still loading faster though.
A question for the computer types. If I were to d'load Mozilla Thunderbird (E-mail app), would I be able to check my AOL mail with it?

Yes
