Title: Portland (Oregon) venues?
Post by: Charlie Nakatestes, Japanese Golfer on May 01, 2009, 07:56:30 am
So a friend of mine is going to be in Portland June 12-13 and was asking me what he should do for live music. I haven't been in Portland for years. I've heard the Doug Fir is a must go place (don't know if A Camp (6/12) or Constantines (6/13) are his sort of thing.

I see that the Legendary Shack Shakers are playing Dante's. Now there's a band everyone should see once. How is the venue?

Anybody have any venues to recommend? Any complete resources for gig listings (Willamette Weekly?)

Voodoo donuts and Mary's, but be wary of the girl at Mary's who dresses like a school girl and throws her hand down your pants.

About five years ago I wandered in to Berbati's Pan to check out The High Llamas only to see Joanna Newsome playing to about 20 people.  That is cool little venue.

Crystal Ballroom, Aladdin Theater, also agreeing with Berbati's Pan as great places to see shows in Portland (great sightlines, awesome staff, etc.).

Pollstar is a good place to check who's coming in town, gig-wise.
