any recommendations? Western Digital any good?

preferably 1 TB external hard drive...

For IDE I'd stick with WD.  For SATA WD and Seagate have done well for me.  Take it all with a grain of salt though, as long as you stay away from off brands, make of HDs is one of those personal preference things.

-
				Avoid LaCie.

-
i've always bought Seagate and never had a problem.

That's a good drive and a good price (I paid $130 for mine).  I have used many of those (and its predecessor) in the past couple years or so.

This is a great deal and worthy of jumping on, but don't forget about newegg, which usually destroys Best Buy's price.

				Ditto on Newegg.

You could splurge and get this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822122022

joe, that's a great deal on a good drive.  book it.

alternative: if you don't/can't buy this deal right away, consider signing up for buy.com's daily e-mail newsletter.  they feature a 1TB for under $100 at least once a week, if not more often.
