Is anyone going? After watching his Coachella and Letterman concert, it looks like he still has it. I'm really tempted to buy some of the 60 dollar seats right now.
-
i'm in. Saw last time he was in town and he put on a great show. His band is very tight.

I'm going to see him this Tuesday night up in NYC. Got the cheap seats, sitting up on top and taking my 16 year old nephew. You gotta see these people while they're still around. But unless you're a total fanatic, no need to drop $250. It's not like Paul dances around the stage or anything and gets in the audience's face. He's a slick professional who's been doing it a very long time and knows how to put on a good show. Plus he pulls out one or two or 25 utterly classic songs in a 2 1/2 hour long concert. So get the cheap seats and just go and enjoy it. Ten years from now, when he's stopped touring, you'll be glad you did.
-
I saw him the last time he was in town and loved it. He played for over 3 hours, and played everything. I went with my Mom and Aunt, and we had a great time. Just got the cheap seats.
-
I'll be there in the $95-level. I don't want Ringo to be the only Beatle I ever get to see in concert.
-
after hearing a review on howard today about one of the shows . . . i might just reconsider this. he seems to be giving the fans a "beatle blowout" show, full of mainly hits and less of that wings/solo b.s.
-
I'm tempted, but the fees are killing me. (I want to go mid-range in ticket base cost)
-
I just got 4 of the $65 tickets. With fees and standard mail delivery, it was $363. Without any fees it would have been $260. Fees were 103 or almost $26 per ticket. I hate Ticketmaster and Fedex field, why must one pay a parking fee even if you aren't going to park there?
Despite this, i expect the $91 dollars to be worth it and I'm glad I will save myself future regret had I not bought the tickets.
-
Ugh. You guys are killing me. I decided this am not to go b/c fees...but your comments about the show are tempting! I'm already seeing "Spring Awakening" that day - it would be a long one.
-
We sprung for the $95 (?) tickets which got us in the front part of the back section on the floor. I've seen two other Sir Paul shows - he does not disappoint. The 4th of July 1990 at RFK was one I'll never forget.
-

Has he ever played "Hi Hi Hi" since his infamous drug bust? Back in the mid 1970s the teens in my neighborhood hung out at this pizza shop where the owner knew that half of us were there with pot munchies, because his jukebox was all songs like that. Hi Hi Hi in particular was like the big anthem of the local heads

They must be hurting to sell tickets to this....
-
Redskins ticket reps are always calling me about season tickets. They have offered me free tickets to U2 and Paul. Too bad the Redskins are lame. Go Caps!
-
man i wish i had 250 to blow on a show . . . just pulled 20th row, front section, dead center. threw it back. i needed groceries anyway. i think i'll make the drive with the cooler to wegmans.
-
He's playing Jet. That's all that matters. You can leave after that.

yeah, i guess my number finally came up (or whatever) after years on the waitlist. they were several months late as i'd sprung for caps season tix in feb. besides, it doesn't get any more convenient for me than the verizon center, and i don't hate the owner.
-
If I wasn't going to apw, I would def had tried to go to this.
-
Oh man, he dropped For No One from the last time he toured. My favorite. :(
-
Kosmette and I are in, pulled what appear to be decent seats in Section 113 in the back. Too bad about the Synder tax on top off all the other fees.... We really enjoyed his phone booth show in 2002 and it sounds like he and his band are still in top form.
The metro station is walkable correct?
-
All of the comments here talked me into it. I just bought four $30 tickets (before fees). I hope the sound holds up in the upper deck. We are in the 9th row, straight back from the stage. It is quite a distance back, but I figure it will give us the best view. It feels like a really good deal right now, and I am glad I read the thread.
Kosmo, the Morgan Blvd. metro station is about a mile away, and is not a bad walk. The other stop may be a little closer, but I haven't used it yet.
-
Up in NYC we sat in the upper-deck of CitiField, about 15 rows from the top, and the sound was really very good, definitely loud enough. He's got these big speaker rigs set up facing up and into the higher-reaching sections. Of course FedEx is twice the size of CitiField but I expect he'll make it work. The stage visuals feature two vertical jumbotron screens on each side of the stage, pretty much projecting Paul close-ups throughout. In NY he had an opening act, an Irish pop/rock group called The Script. And he didn't wind up coming on til around 9pm, maybe a little earlier. 35 songs total. 2 encore sets. Good stuff. Souvenirs include: $30 programs (mostly pix, not much text); $5 keychains, $20 coffee mugs, $35-$45 t-shirts, etc. Enjoy, everybody ...
-
I opted out. As much as I'd like to go, the fees are ridiculous.
-
Which stop is the best if I take the metro?
I'm thinking about just driving from Baltimore, parking at the U of MD and taking the metro from there.
-
Morgan Blvd on the Blue line is the stop for FedEx. Give yourself about 20 mins to walk from the metro, but it's pretty easy.
-
Got some free tickets for this over the weekend...my husband is taking his brother since I'm already going to Tori...
-

Crap, the metro ride itself would be an hour commute.
I've never been to a huge stadium concert, is parking usually a cluster f*ck?

I'm planning on parking at New Carrollton from there it's only a 30 minute train ride... Isn't parking like $25 out there?
Also has anyone seen when gates and will call open for the show, the FedExField website only lists info on the games? 7:30 is probably when the show starts and seeing as I've got will call extra time will need to be added for picking up tickets.
-
Paul starts at 7:30 or is there an opener?

yoko will walk upon the stage, demand a bed be placed upon, screech into the microphone for some amount of time . . . causing everybody to quit.

I thought parking was already included in the total price charged by TM.
-
Parking IS included, but i'm sure getting out post show is going to be god awful
-
Paul starts at 7:30 or is there an opener?
It's McCartney & McCartney.
Opening act: Jesse McCartney.
(j/k)
-
oh my god
-
The important thing is that he'll play "Jet." F U if you don't like that song.

That's correct, I wonder what happens if you have will call tickets though... Anyone know when the parking lots open?
According to TM page Will Call opens two hours before the event...

when TM pre-charges everyone for parking, they generally don't check on the way in - you're waved through. the assumption is that everyone has already paid... a vlid one, unless you're there just to tail-gate (but i suspect that someone calculated that it wasn't worth the cost/effort of screening out the few party crashers).
so even if your tickets are will-call, you shouldn't have a problem... other than traffic on the way out.

you think macca will return the favor and guest DJ at Local 16 late night?
-

It Thievery Corp is opening up, I wonder when Paul goes on.. 8? 8:30?
-
Stupid Question: Do a lot of people tailgate at these things/do the police actually monitor it?
-
via the McCartney fan forum
Parking lot opens at 4pm
Gates open at 6pm
Tailgating is allowed at Redskins games, no ideas if it's allowed at concerts....
-
Thanks!

i was just told that they put a squash on partying in the parking lot for fed-ex, for anything. are you sure about that?
-
They have certain spots now where you can tailgate if you need more then 1 spot. If you just need 1 parking spot, you can tailgate wherever for Skins games

Great show! I liked the addition of the two songs from the recent Fireman record, and the rest was a nice varied set from his career. To tired to compare setlists, but we heard some different songs from the 2002 show...
Now I don't know about the rest of you, but we zipped right out after the show via Arena Drive. Getting in was a major headache due to lack of any signage on where one could exit from the inner loop. We only managed to get into show around 8:15pm, after getting out of bumper to bumper madness that started at route 50, to take our chances on what the situation was in closer to the 202 exit. If Arena Drive was indeed open then epic failure on someone part for not having a least temporary signage along the beltway indicating that. Oh and it was classic as we were getting on 202 from the beltway, there was a road crew truck blocking a lane of traffic in order to fix some traffic lights. WTF!
-
Arena Drive was open before the show. We zipped past all of that traffic on the inner loop and were in the parking lot in a matter of minutes. We left Silver Spring around 5:45 and were inside with a drink before 6:30. Sorry we didn't have much time to talk after the show, kosmo, but Don was on a mission to get home ASAP.
The show was great. Over 2.5 hours and it just flew by. What a catalog he has to pick from. Damn.
-
oh well... guess i should gone with my gut on using Arena drive instead of being a lemming
and the Red Wings stickers on one of Paul's acoustic guitar was a nice touch :D
-
Great show! McCartney is an expert in giving a crowd what it wants and he proved it tonight. Highlights included Michelle, Live and Let Die, Let me Roll It, and Here Today.
Tons of problems with the trip and venue though. My friends and I left Baltimore around 445; we did not park till 8:10. The wait to get off 495 was god awful and 295 was backed up for some reason. The parking was the biggest clusterf*ck of all time. Staffers were waving us into lots that were full. Luckily, we just parked next to a dumpster and walked in. On the way out, I literally ran to my car and picked up my friends and was out of the stadium within 5 minutes. To compare, the trip back took 45 minutes while tje trip there took over 3 hours.
The one positive with the venue: I lost my wallet before the show and missed the first two songs looking for it. However, it was in lost and found. My faith in humanity is now restored since someone actually turned it in with my credit cards and money intact.
-
Great, great show.
Fed Ex Field sucks and so does Dan Snyder.
-
Really great. Got there early for tailgating so we were lucky to miss most of the traffic issues.
It needs to be repeated that the man is SIXTY SEVEN years old.
-
I thought it was a great contrast to see how much more McCartney could do with 2.5 hours than Green Day could.
-
Dug this up on the McCartney forum mentioned at www.macca.devstars.eu. Great show!

Just the 36 songs then. Amazing that he can still rip "I'm Down" and then go straight into "Something". Great show but FedEx sucks. Stood in line for food and drinks to be told they had run out of soda (put up a sign for God's sake) and had to pay $5 for water.

I know alot of people who missed the first few songs because there was no one directing traffic into the stadium at all.
Sad.

My photos from the show are up on DCist: http://dcist.com/2009/08/click_click_paul_mccartney_fedex_fi.php
I arrived early and left early and did not have any problems either way. Although about a third of the way through the show THEY RAN OUT OF BEER CUPS!
-
I've only been to one Redskins game there but I'd bet these type of problems don't happen on Sundays in the fall there. Traffic confusion, plumbing problems, running out of concessions, no port-o-potties in the parking lot (at least none where I parked).
It seems Danny really went on the cheap for this.

There's a decent quality bootleg on dimeadozen if anyone is interested.
-
What is dimeadozen?
-
http://www.dimeadozen.org/
It's a torrent tracker that only has live shows, so everything is legal. You have to register to download stuff and only a certain amount of people can be members. If you can't join it, try for like 20 minutes and eventaully you will get a spot as the system deletes inactive members like every ten minutes. Worst case if you can't join I can send you the show somehow.
-

Dimeadozen's search feature sucks big time. If your looking for it, go under the top 10 torrents.
