Bummer about the cancer..
-
ugh. i'm glad they caught it early.
i wonder who they'll get to replace the bboys at the festivals? small upside: "that clearly solves my conflict on Beastie Boys and Tool at Lolla"
-
Damn, I had plans in Montreal. This clearly solves my conflict between "seeing Beastie Boys at Osheaga" and just hanging out.
-
oh man, what a drag, though it clearly solves my conflict on "man I hate the beastie boys and I wish one of them would get cancer but if I say it out loud or think it through, that would make me a bad person but seriously, fuck a guy"
-
Yauch was always my favorite Beastie.
It seems like it's easily treated, there's just a rather lengthy recovery.
-
damn that sucks. at least he's going to get some good treatment for it....hopefully....
-
Supposedly YYYs are taking their place

Confirmed: http://www.lollapalooza.com/blog/index.php/2009/07/21/yeah-yeah-yeahs-added-to-bill/

i wonder what APW will do... no official word yet, other than "yes, we know, we're working on it". they can't call in the YYYs, since they're already on the bill for the same night. i guess they could bump them up to the headlining slot on the mainstage...
-
maybe two nights of YYYs like Radiohead did last year.
maybe for the first night they can do an entire album by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
then the second night an entire album by Pat Benatar.
that would rule.

Jay-Z replacing the Beasties at APW.
-
pretty good replacement. I haven't seen him before so I'm happy with it. ;D

white'n'nerdy over here thinks that j-z is a solid stand-in, could easily have done worse (was fearing that they would), but would have preferred having the BBoys as originally planned.
