Title: The tennis string... uh, thread
Post by: sweetcell on September 08, 2009, 09:23:05 pm
any fans of tennis here?

if so, i STRONGLY recommend that you tune in to nadal vs. monfils, on right now.  some ridiculous tennis going on at flushing meadows.  i'm soooo rooting for the frenchman, such attitude.

(p.s. yes, i wimped out on motorhead etc)

As the token elite white male of this board, I have been following every second of the US Open. Monfils is a class act, and Oudin is America's new tennis princess!

I'm tired just watching this thing.  They are destroying the ball on every point.

i have NEVER been so impressed and amped up over a non-final match.  i don't have a horse in this race but i don't remember being this into a match since blake vs. agassi.  superb tennis.

(jules, i totally expected you to step up)

Oudin/Wozniacki promises to be the teenage hotness match of the decade! Although, Wozniacki could stand to lose 15 pounds.

But yes, Monfils/Nadal is awesome so far.

Although, Wozniacki could stand to lose 15 pounds.

That might cost her a full cup size and Smackie can't approve that.  As the Sports Guy pointed out last night on twitter:

No. 3 Google trend right now: "caroline wozniacki breasts." The U.S. Open everybody!

No, brother, what it adds to her thighs takes away from the chest-age. Oudin is where it's at! I stand by my statement: Wozniacki minus-15 would be killa!

you and your skeleton fetish... woz looks perfect just the way she is.

but the real question of the day is: jules, what did you think of the frilly number she wore tonight?  t'was a low-level disaster, in my (unfashionable) books.  the match itself was good.

5'10" & 110 lbs is the upper limit of what julian will consider attractive... he doesn't like muscles  ::)

(seriously, that girl doesn't have 15 pounds to lose, unless she stops training/being an athlete)

that's because girls with muscles would be able to raise their hands to slap his face after he drones on about about hip his cary location of richmond is / how much money he spends on stuff / how he likes to repetitively make you know you are in the presence of someone "better" than you / how the music he listens to isn't for poor people.

I don't know what's worse: that outfit, or the fact she wore it in both the 4th round and the quarters! You're the #9 player in the world: buy some clothes!

She's 5'10" 128 lbs.
If this is accurate measurements, then I take back my "lose 15 pounds" call. The correct figure was 9.

Where was the second women's semi? CBS barely even mentioned it, and successfully managed to avoid showing any of it.

and it was a bad call that started it all.  that line judge is gonna get a muscled sister beat down in a cold, dark parking garage, sometime real soon.

i can't decide if this is the name of my next band, or our first album.

All the apologists are saying this, but all sorts of photographic evidence say otherwise. Go youtube the euro feed of this.

That said, Serena has become the biggest piece of shit this year. She's been the sorest winner twice already (claiming an opponent was "cheating" because Serena disagreed with a line call, and then her verbal diarrhea towards Safina after winning Wimbledon -- "but hey, she won in Rome ahahahahahahahaha!!") and now she's a sore loser. What a sack of shit.

Hey, to be serious and not make light of the situation for the moment: a couple of places have said Serena used the word "gook" somewhere in her rant (which of course a mic didn't pick up). Anyone else catch this from lip-reading or not true?

Wow, what a story, with Clijsters winning after all this time! And outweighing her competitor by what I estimate to be 40 pounds -- incredible!!

Seriously, those thighs are RE-DIC-U-LUS!!

Congrats Juan Martin, the game kind of sucked, but he got the job done...
(Juan Martin at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic this year)

That was more Federer beating himself then anything Del Potro did. RF's first serve % was something like 45%.

Del Potro is the real deal.

Anyone who lives in DC and follows tennis should know. He won the Legg Mason the last two years and this year beat Roddick in a great final (just about a month ago).

Del Potro deserves a lot of credit. Del Potro had about 40 winners just on the forehand and his some key shots.

Did Federer play his best game? No. BUt Del Potro didn't flinch/wilt in his first grand slam final against a guy who hadn't lost at the US Open since 2004!!!!!

A lot of players - under that pressure- would not have been able to close Roger out.

Is there anything Argentinian you DON'T worship at an unhealthy level?

I'll give you that, but I still think Federer's implosion had more to do with this then Del Potro's intestinal fortitude. But Del Potro had a great tournament, and I saw that DC title you alluded to earlier this year against Roddick. Definitely an exciting player who hasn't reached his prime yet. Here's hoping he doesn't go the way of Safin.

Man its  unreal.. there is a tennis thread.. I chime in that he played well and deserved to win (not too crazy a thing to say!) not once mentioning he is Argentine and some asshole chimes in about worshipping Argentines unhealthily.

Pampita rocks by the way.. I do worship her.
