it's occurred to me that we don't have a thread for posting cool online finds & other sources of time suck, other than the youtube and "when life imitates the onion" threads. so please contribute to this thread by posting fun games, quizzes, parody & humor sites, etc.
i just came across this: http://www.chromeexperiments.com/ - works best with google chrome, although most are OK with firefox. fun stuff. "starfield" is pretty trippy.
-
This site is a kicker ;D

I was just thinking that yesterday. I would havedsimply called it "Open Thread" like many other fora, a generically titled free-for-all.
And I would have started with this: Nirvana members dismayed by 'Guitar Hero 5'
The story is pretty typical of Cobain worship. The kicker, though, is the accompanying pic:

hum, another possibility... although i envisioned this thread being a repository of cool stuff to check out when bored. got a few minutes to kill? check this sh*t out!
do feel free to start an "open thread"... who knows where it'll go on this board!
The kicker, though, is the accompanying pic:

We've got a whole thread of time wasters (http://www.930.com/forum/index.php?topic=2804.0) 4 pages long. It's just been buried since it hasn't been used for a long time.
Now we have plenty of garbage to keep everybody busy.
All kinds of art fun in here (http://solaas.com.ar).

i do say thank you mister sweet for thinking of me when it comes to anything animal baby cuteness . . . but i am one of "those" who thinks anything zoo is everything satan. they are animal jails that on the outside seem to be nice organizations doing good for the survival of species, but really are nothing more than slave encampments hell bent on exploitation and personal gain. like kirk cameron.

Bill Watterson, creator of beloved 'Calvin and Hobbes' comic strip looks back with no regrets
This marks the 15th year since "Calvin and Hobbes" said goodbye to the comics pages. Creator Bill Watterson, who grew up in Chagrin Falls and still makes Greater Cleveland his home, recently answered some questions via e-mail from Plain Dealer reporter John Campanelli. It's believed to be the first interview with the reclusive artist since 1989.

What's best about that interview is his snarky comebacks. Man, those were some terrible questions.

calvin and hobbes will stand the test of time as one of the best comics ever drawn, next to bloom county, in my opinion. i grew up on watterson's mental capabilities. and didn't he really bring the strip to a close because of the whole debacle when "illegal" likenesses of calvin starting appearing everywhere on truck windows pissing on chevy symbols? i remember he was so enraged about that.

6 Degrees of Black Sabbath: http://labs.echonest.com/SixDegrees/index
just as actors can all be connected to kevin bacon, this website tries to prove that you can draw a link between all musicians (may take more than 6 degrees, tho). for example, you can link fugazi and lady gaga (http://labs.echonest.com/SixDegrees/index?start=fugazi&end=lady+gaga).

recommended: Nikola Tesla (http://www.badassoftheweek.com/tesla.html) and Wolverine (http://www.badassoftheweek.com/wolverine.html) - best line: "Basically, Wolverine is what you would get if you combined a hockey enforcer, a rabid animal, and a wood chipper."

"post" nuclear anything is fucking boring after it's been done already a billion times . . . and do we really need to see, hear, be reminded that we could die horribly after our skin is half melted off our bones and mutants are running around eating anything to survive? but i guess since it will have bleepidy bloop music from trent, it will be ok.

There's a post going around about how to turn Google translate into a beatbox. The one that's going around has a formula to add. After playing around with it a bit, I figured out how it worked and made my own.
- First off, go to Google translate.
- Set it to translate from German to German.
(Once you figure out how this works, you could use any combination but German has that natural machine sound.)
- Add the code below.
- Click the listen button.
tkz zdk chz ktn pzt ddz kvb tkn gzt qtz ttzz xtc wzz nnzz tzx rtvz ckchcz ptw vbtzx czz

do not visit this page if you ever want to get anything done again: http://www.buzzfeed.com/badge/time-waster
from that page i got sucked in to sugar, sugar (http://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/sugar-sugar-game-battle) yesterday, took me about 2 hours to get through it. pretty neat concept, recommended for those who like to solve logic puzzles.
also been playing entanglement (http://entanglement.gopherwoodstudios.com/, works best in chrome) recently. breaking the 1000 point barrier is near impossible, high score so far is 794.

If I deleted it was done in error
-
^ Or it could have been deleted by one of the other Mods; in error, of course.
This place has been infested with spammers lately so who knows what all they might be up to though I lean towards thinking it was an accidental deletion.
-
kos, i have no doubt that it was deleted in error. i was being silly.
is there any way of restoring it?
