That was one of the best shows I've seen all year. Bob did announce he's leaving DC after 7 years and moving to San Francisco. :( Nevertheless, that show went about an hour and 10 minutes but they just ripped through a full set. That band of his were spot on. Sugar songs were amazing. But the Husker Du songs were simply unreal. Started off with my favorite Husker song of all time Something I Learned today!!! And then we got Celebrated Summer, I Apologize, Chartered Trips, In A Free Land. Bob was just attacking those Husker songs and the rest of the band really nailed them as well. Such a great set. The crowd was really into it. Probably nothing like the Dinosaur Jr crowd 2 nights before. :P The opening band, Miles Anthony something were a really nice surprise as well.

Sorry to hear he's moving.. Always enjoy knowing he's around my neighborhood...
-
That killed.
They charged right through that set like a runaway train. Jon Wurster was a pleasant surprise.
-
as i wrote in "this week roll call"...
"And if you weren't at the bob mould show tonight your (lame) excuse was..."
truly awesome show. just spot on from the start. wurster looked like he was having the time of his life playing some of those oldies up there. you don't need marathon sets when you deliver 70 straight minutes of rock awesomeness. so many young bands -- bands i admit to liking -- could learn a thing or five from a show like that.

Agreed - a totally amazing show. Loved the Sugar and Husker Du songs. It's going to be a real loss to the DC music community to have him leave for SF. But apparently they'll still be doing Blowoff on a regular basis.
-
Really? He'll fly out once a month? That's dedication.
-
Sorry I missed this.
When does he move?
-
But apparently they'll still be doing Blowoff on a regular basis.
He'll fly out once a month?
He didn't say that. Once every sixth months would still be "a regular basis."
-
I'll bet he comes back every 2 months or so. They do Blowoff in Atlanta, San Fran, Chicago and NYC every 1-2 months already.
Thought the show was great. Those Husker Du songs always kill. Good seeing everyone.

I moved to central Texas in 1993 for college. Bob Mould moved to Austin in 1994.
I moved to Washington, D.C. in 1997. Bob Mould moved to D.C. 2002.
I moved to San Francisco in 2006. Bob Mould moves to San Francisco in 2009.
Coincidence???

Venerable Bede is Bob Mould's secret gay lover.
Not that there's anything wrong with that....

shhhhh. . . . .

The real test will be if he lives in Walnut Creek....
-
I would have been there, but I was just finishing a 100 mile bike ride on the eastern seaboard. Then I was grillin dinner for everyone.

I concur that the show killed. I caught the Philly show and despite a sold out crowd, it was really good but not as great as Saturday's show which was indeed poorly attended, but it was a spirited presentation. Bob has been living in SF for a couple months now, I ran into him there in August and he was already there. I think he's just ready for the next phase of his life, and SF is a place that he's always wanted to live. I think honestly he's going to start to wind down from music and focus (eventually) on teaching. It's funny for as much as I really think DC was a good step for him, it also was necessary for him to leave too.
Oh, and Lady Gaga apparently was at Blowoff. Not sorry that I missed that one.

You didn't miss anything. Trust me.
-
All of the Facebook postings of "OMG...LADY GAGA" said it all. After seeing Bob blast through "JC Auto" how could Lady Gaga top that? Puh-leeze. So lame.
-
She didn't do anything at all. She stood in the balcony overlooking the right side of the stage while some dork stood on the DJ platform and held a flashlight on her. She pretty much stood still while Rich played her new song. When that was over she waved and left.
-
Sounds like Lady Caca instead of Gaga. Whatev.
Still reeling from that Bob Mould show. That could very well be my favorite show he's ever done. The Husker Du stuff absolutely killed. Nice to see that "JC Auto" still can slay too.

Just miss seeing Husker Du @ ye ole 930 club, caught him on the "Workbook" tour however a few years later and really enjoyed it

Just curious, from all the current solo shows he's done that you've seen, as he ever played Something I Learned Today?
