I've been waiting for this show for three years. Who else is in? And does anyone know if the Geologist set will be between Atlas Sound and Broadcast sets or after Broadcast? Hopefully it's the latter so that those of us who want to can check out BTS.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I honestly can't wait for this. I'm steaming with excitement.
But...I hope everyone knows their setlist is comprised of mostly new songs/compositions from their upcoming album and the current EP (which is AMAZING, but not really song-based).
CANT. WAIT.

Az and Joe are my favorite couple on this forum! They are like Fred and Ethel Mertz. Our very own Fred and Ethel and I love them for that. ;D
-
I could do a lot better if I was gay.
Oh and Broadcast's set was roughly an hour of noise/drone-based awesomeness. First 20 minutes sounded like spacy improv followed by about half an hour of old and new songs segued into and out of seamlessly followed by one last song from the new EP.

i'm glad I skipped this show for White Rabbits, but I sure am glad I didn't skip this thread! Pure comedy!

"MyraEllen would've hated this" did go through my head a couple times during their set.

Yes, I know that you aren't gay, but you guys are still the Mertzs. ;D
-
yes, you would have hated it. I'm glad you weren't there. 8)

Yep, typical Fred; the old curmudgeon! :D

Better pulling tail in general? Or better than Joe? Cuz let's face facts...Joe's probably only gay because he read about homosexuality somewhere online :)

Hold on! This isn't even a gay/straight thing. Besides, Fred and Ethel never had any children so we have no conclusive evidence proving that they ever had sex. They were just..... 'a couple'. Like Az and Joe.

::)
Better than Joe.

so azag is Ethel then? good.

I dunno; you're way more of a bitch than I am.

If Ethel were alive today, she'd probably go to Hanson's show on Tuesday. Fred won't. :P

I don't know what you're talking about.
And I doubt Fred would've seen Kylie.

Yes, I kinda thought so since he's always taking the piss out of you on here. And, well, you're the curmudgeon which makes you Fred.

or they could be Burt and Ernie ;D

wow, the broadcast show sounds like it was right down my alley. i would be going in philly tonight if i weren't going to baltimore to see st vitus. this was a tough call, but st vitus aren't likely to tour again and i will see broadcast in two or three years.
-
Wish that St. Vitus gig was at 930. I'm way too beat after 8 straight nights of shows to go up to Baltimore today.
I guess the shitty emo band playing the club tonight was booked in advance of St. Vitus hammering out their tour. Figured the club would have been their first choice since Wino's already played there twice this year.
You would've surely dug the Broadcast set. The first part sounded like early Cluster with Trish doing pretty wordless vocals on top.
-
yes, ethel wasn't a bitch. which confirms that you are in fact ETHEL.

Would have also liked to have seen St. Vitus in DC

Some people are old enough to have watched I Love Lucy when it was originally on, whereas others are gay enough to watch the reruns.
I wonder who here fits into which category.

And some are so old and lived way out in cow country that they had to watch the reruns in order to assimilate just to try to fit in with the city folk. ::)

broadcast was kind of a bummer, no? just a bit anticlimactic. first off, the weather that night was just soul-crushingly awful, which was a drag on everything. then they went on second (instead of third) without any warning, which was just kinda confusing. like, what's going on here? then they opened with the 20 mins of just sorta sound collage + cooing, which was nice and all, but again it was like, wait, this is broadcast and this is their set, right? then it got a bit more songy and they did "corporeal" and "black cat" and some of them new tunes. but it just wasn't ideal. it happens. they still rule.
-
saint vitus only had time for a weekend jaunt this time around. i enquired about doing a philly show. a few hundred showed up at sonar, so they'd probably be big enough to play the black cat or 930. i'd hate to see them at the blowtel.
as for the show, it was absolutely amazing. wino was terrific and electrifying as a frontman, letting dave chandler pull all his best leigh stephens and hendrix moves on guitar. original bassist mark adams held it down. they played all the classics, and wino sang "white stallions", which they recorded pre-wino. i'm glad i missed broadcast for saint vitus.
apparently, chandler and wino are getting along and having a great time, so i wouldn't be surprised to see a more extensive saint vitus tour next year.
i'm a sucker for self-indulgent sound collage if done right, and it sounds like broadcast knew what they were doing. seems like they are really trying to capture the exploratory vibes of their psych forebears, like the united states of america and white noise.
