So Buddyhead is saying Fugazi split up, I know there has not been much news about them and they did not play Fort Reno, but has this been reported elsewhere? Did I miss something? Or is Buddyhead just reporting rumor, as they often do?
-
I honestly didn't realize they were still together.
-
I don't trust Buddyhead. I don't see how their bands do either. All they do is talk shit.
-
who is buddyhead?
-
Fugazi's done. I guess they just didn't want to make some big deal announcement about being broken up.
-
Never heard of buddyhead (http://www.buddyhead.com/)?
It's a site run by a couple of guys in the band Icarus Line and run the Buddyhead label. Think of them as the anti-Pitchfork.
They tend to pimp their own bands. But they have a great gossip page. While some of it should be taken with tablespoon of salt, some of it is accurate.

Well the question has been if Brendon leaves and Jerry were to take over, would they keep the name?
I don't think it will ever "end" they can keep playing and recording until their 70s like the old blues guys and we will keep buying it.

In the movie "Instrument" they said that if any one of them ever wanted to leave the group, they would disband.

I just got it on DVD. Where should I look for you?
-
If I said where it would be too obvious, but I did have a ponytail and it is in the greater DC area (but not in DC).
-
I'll never forget the rainy saturday i sat down on my couch and low and behold, Instrument was just starting on the Independant film channel. I remember it well. McDonalds and MacKaye, it was dreamy.
-
I believe it involved audience members in stripes.

Yep. Weird show.

Word on the street is that the band is done. Ian has a new band, the Evens. Not making an announcement about it gives them the option to get back together whenever they want without making such a big deal about it.

What street?

18th and Columbia. Right next to the McDonalds.
That's where I always see Guy making out with Kathi.

is it some sort of make love not beef statement?
-
I am not sure they are over...but definitely inactive. I think they will get back together to work at some point, but who knows when. It will be a while probably.

I definitely expect another live show before it's all over...

This (below) was posted on a listserv I subscribe to. Not sure of its credibility (Guy has a child?!)... From all I've heard, they are not calling it quits -just going low key. But who knows! I wish they would play more shows...

UPDATE!
Apparently this rumour IS rubbish, but then again,
what do you expect from the gossip pages of Buddyhead? Whew. Anyway, the facts are that Fugazi are taking a break as Guy (Picciotto) has a new child, and Ian wants to concentrate on his label. They have even (reportedly) been working on new demos, suggesting that Fugazi are pretty far from breaking up.
