a friend of mine was asked to leave recently for smoking a joint around the corner from the club. Will it be a problem for him go to the upcoming New Porns show?
-
no
-
I think you mean "a friend"
-
So he smoked the joint "outside" and then was allowed inside, but once finally inside, was asked to leave for what he did outside? Hmm. Doubtful. Either way, FAQ is your friend. (http://www.930.com/forum/index.php?board=2.0)

I was thinking he went outside to smoke the joint, was seen and told not to come back in.
Never knew why people couldn't do their drug(s) of choice before going to a show if that's their thing. Being high typically lasts a while.
P.S. I'm totally bumping this thread on Biscuits show night.
-
I don't see how it would be a problem for him to go to the new pornos show. Did they take a pic of him and post it on the wall?? I think your friend is fine. I could be wrong so ask thatguy and sethy ;D
-
yes, as a matter of fact, there was a pic taken on a cell phone camera. we're not sure what they did with it; maybe just taken for reference for that night?? I've never seen pictures of anyone on the walls. the show is like 10 weeks away, so we're hoping the heat will be off. :-\

ha, I was just kidding about the picture taking. Who knew they would actually take one ;D

Asked to leave for smoking a joint "around the corner from the club"? And they snapped a picture to boot?
Wow. On both accounts.
-
I got booted from the club a few years ago for smoking out in the bathroom and wasn't barred from future shows. Same with getting caught with a flask.
-
I completely understand why the club would have no tolerance for people doing drugs on premises, but if that story's accurate, that he really smoked it around the corner, that's kind of astonishing.
-
actually . . . he was smoking a joint around the corner and was heard saying, "that bouncer with those big earrings don't scare me. and that short one who always looks mean is kinda cute." they did what they had to.
-
Hey - I'm going to be at the club seeing Florence + the Machine tomorrow night... someone care to hook me up? Looking for like an 1/8th. Thanks!

If this is regarding the incident I think it is, then he was around the corner, but still on our property. He wasn't banned from the club, just asked to leave for the night, so he should have no issues coming to the New Pornographers show...and yes, I am kinda cute
-
can someone be banned for stupidity? this on-the-property smoker better hope not.
effin' hell, people, go for a walk. do it beforehand. it's not that hard to keep the club out of it and reduce your chances of being kicked out to zero.
-
there will be no problem with your friend coming, provided that he leaves the illegal substances elsewhere.
i can't think of any reason why a staff member would take a picture. that is not our policy.
just for the record: the club has property and staff in the area surrounding the club pretty much all the time. if you are caught doing something illegal there, you will not be allowed inside. if you show up at the front door obviously under the influence, you will not be allowed inside.
there are also police officers (both on duty and off) in the area pretty much all the time. what they do if they find you breaking the law is outside of our control.
when drugs are legal, i'm sure we'll sell them to you. until then, the use of illegal substances puts our license at risk. please just leave it at home.

They're all at Duffys....

Sweet. So I may still be able to order a pot brownie from the kitchen someday.

I look forward to the day children of all ages can go into the 9:30 Club, see a rock concert, and purchase some currently-illegal diet pills from the staph. What a great day it will be to be a DC denizen then.

I gotta say, if the music's so bad that you've got to light up a spliff before or during a show to enjoy it, then it might be wise to consider changing your musical tastes. A much better course of action is to enjoy the show drug free, and then retire afterwards with some Ambien and old-school chillout music, like the Orb or something.

right, because that's the only reason to consume an intoxicant. given the amount of alcohol sold at music shows, i guess most people need to change their musical tastes...
doomsie, tell me you're not THAT thick.
