Saturday's nightcap over all is the best of the four sets of acts I'm seeing (sat/sun) IMO.
-
If I do one of the late night ones, it will be Saturday. That is depending on getting a hotel room for the night or not.
-
spankrock is no longer listed on the lineup fyi
and ian mackaye and mink stole have been added to thursdays lecture portion
-
LOWER DENS is can't miss though they play Baltimore a lot.

Ill keep that in mind. I was planning on seeing all that days acts, so i will keep an ear out for them.

Too bad about Spank Rock. That would have been the only reason i would have came out for Friday.
Oh well I guess I will be at the SVI/Bloody Knives/Space Tigers show/Potluck dinner Friday night.
-
^Yeah, I was planning on hitting that up. Last show at that house, too supposedly.
-
Maybe I will see you there. I haven't went to any shows there yet, so I guess the last is better than none.

I think Height with Friends and Javelin are reason enough to come out on Friday. I saw "Height" last night and once again he and his crew put on an awesome show.
-
Oh here are the acts I am excited about seeing. I am sure there are some other good ones that I missed. Shame about Spank Rock. Supposedly, there is one guaranteed big surprise and another one in the works. Hopefully, that makes up for Spank Rock not being on the line-up.

Did you catch the Talk Normal set at Paper Sun a few months back? Totally killer.

This site has a page that lists all the bands and either MP3's from the bands or links to their site. Very useful for a festival like this

Oxes presents Whoxescape: The Baltimore band Oxes (August 16th 1998 - ????) has temporarily reformed to present an in progress work as work. Throughout the day on Friday, Oxes will be structuring improvisations, veiled behind a curtain inside the Current Space, and then intermittently revealing themselves to present the pieces to both the expecting and unexpected public. This (com)posing will be presented as an installation and will examine the (un)relationship between Whartscape festivalgoers and the typical working class Baltimore citizens that frequent MTA public transportation.
so awesome

I want to go Sunday to see Wye Oak and Beach House, but will they announce set times so I can plan accordingly?
-
^You gotta stay for the noisy late night if you go.
Wouldn't want to miss Burning Star Core, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSFsmNC4HY8) would you? ;D

If you like Wye Oak and Beach House I am pretty sure you will love Celebration. So don't miss them.
-
So I'm still getting over some highly contagious bug and sadly cannot go.
If you need tickets for tomorrow or Sunday, get in touch with Joe (Vas Deferens).
Edit...still on the fence for Saturday but definitely out for Sunday.
-
i missed yesterday because i was stuck at work until 10:30pm...sucks!
here is the schedule:

Yeah, feeling like shit. Can't go. Find Joe.
-
I probably will only be at the outdoor Current Space stages from 4:00 till 10:30 Saturday and Sunday. It looks like it might rain both days. Is this show rain or shine?
-
yep, rain or shine. they have tarps over the stages (although if its a downpour, those tarps are going to be holding serious amounts of water, heh)
went tonight but didn't stay around for the stuff at the h&h....was so hot outside. lil b (the headliner for tonight since spankrock dropped out) was god awful.
-
Javelin, Height, and Get em Mamis were the highlight for me today. If you bring beer you need to put it in cup or cover the beer up. If you don't some security dude will tell you to throw it in the trash can.
-
My first day wasnt too shabby. I watched Ed Schrader, Double Dagger, Ponytail, and the Dan Deacon Ensemble. The venue was bad ass, just an area between some buildings in Baltimore. It was way too hot to do all day, and it is supposed to rain today. Guess I will have to get wet, cause I am not missing anyone from 3 to 10:30 pm.
-
luckily i only live 4 blocks from where it is taking place...so i'm back in my apartment - not getting wet, i knew the ghetto tarps they had set up would not hold up. wonder what the schedule will be like for the rest of the day
-
Rain has stopped ... sun's shining.... will update...
-
Did you sell my ticket?
-
mad i missed this. just saw a friend of mine post pictures from it on FB.
-
rest of ourdoor portion of whartscape being moved to sonar

I thought today was handled badly. It stopped raining after an hour and no bands?? Really? I mean couldn't they have made a real stage. Or Baltimore City has those portable stages like the one they used for Station North Festival. I got there at 3 today. Left at 10 saw 3 bands whole sets (Lower Dens, Wye Oak, and Deakin) Saw the creepers do a couple songs and Celebration do a couple songs.
I skipped yesterday because of the heat and not feeling well.
With Xiu Xiu and Spank Rock canceling and the terrible weather I would say this festival was sort of disappointing.
-
Lower Dens, Wye Oak, Deakin, Celebration, Health and Beach House played Sonar.
Beach House was asked by the fire department to stop playing around midnight when they were about to start their 5th song...unbelievable. There were fire trucks outside Sonar. Not sure what happened.
Anyway, I really enjoyed Lower Dens and Wye Oak. Deakin/Celebration/Health - not my thing.
Lightning Bolt and No Age were both great I thought. LB played Colossus (full version) unlike the DC9 show. I think I prefer them outdoors than indoors. I need to start listening to No Age again.

I wish i would have seen this instead of just turning back to College Park around 4:30.
-
there was a firetruck hanging around current space on saturday as well.....i thought maybe they were trying to be dicks.
here's some footage i shot friday night and saturday:
