Title: Good, not too fancy, not too expensive restaurant near the convention center.
Post by: Brian_Wallace on December 07, 2010, 07:38:57 pm

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a restaurant for my parents near the convention center in D.C?  I'm sorry, "Washington"?

They come from the Alabama portion of Pennsylvania so nothing TOO froufrou.  My Dad'll eat anything but my Mom's a lot more picky.  She likes seafood.

I'm paying so something in the range of $100 for both.  Maybe $125 with wine?  It's a convention center so there's a TGI Friday's nearby isn't there?

Many thanks in advance,

Brian

actually, go to hooters.  it's right there.  and poke your dad in the side screaming "hey look at the tits on her."

if you wanna clock in well below $100, the buffalo burgers at RFD's are awesome.  great beer selection, obviously.

dunno if this is too frou frou or spendy, but i've only had deliciousness at acadiana http://www.acadianarestaurant.com/ and it's across the street from the convention center.

Matchbox is very good but it can be tough to get a table if its prime time. It's much more than a pizza place too. I usually get the steak there and it's just swell.

I envy those who can experience multiple postings.
I'm usually only able to make about one an hour.
I'll make a post and then need to rest a bit, maybe have a glass of milk.
Watch some television, eat some iced cream.
Take my mind off my worries for a little while.

You mean the American Sea Grill at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel?

Thanks,

no at l'enfant, the restaurant is called american grill and is very good.  american sea grill is not as froo froo and the address is  480 L St NW

not sure if that too far from the c. center for your folks . . . and your love means more to me than you can ever imagine.  like john lennon.

At $25/per person, I'd suggest off the top of my head Matchbox. I bet there are a bunch of similar quality restaurants over there the Gallery Pl area, but I just can't think of too many right now.

Rosa Mexicano would be excellent as well. SW corner of the Verizon Center at 7 and F.
