Anyone been to the new record store called Revolution Records (http://www.revolutionrecords.net/index.htm) on Connecticut Avenue near UDC/Van Ness? If was wondering if it was the trip...

sounds real promising........
Revolution Records Top 5 Sellers for 12/8-12/14
1) Alicia Keys - The Diary of Alicia Keys
2) No Doubt - Singles 1992-2003
3) Kelis - Tasty
4) Outkast - Speakerboxx/The Love Below
5) Freaky Friday Soundtrack

Well, looking at their website, though their bestseller list isn't so hot right now, they have in-store appearances. They appear to be trying to fill a niche. Hope it works.
Based on the address, it must be in that strip of stores below the gas station, with the Taco Bell and "not Calvert Woodley" liquor store. ;)

It's on the top floor of a 2 story building. Very close to Van Ness metro station. The posters hanging on the windowns reflect their top 5.

Has anyone here actually been inside this place?
I will say that I stopped in and looked through Melody in Dupont - I was pleasantly surprised; prices weren't bad and they had a fair amount of random stuff (a franz ferdinand ep, for example).

well according to this story (http://washington.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2003/10/20/newscolumn7.html) the store is aiming to be a three-in-one outlet. i.e. mainstream, local independent and used cd store...
-
Now that's a revolution!
-
I'd also like to add that Van Ness is a real hotbed of commerce...
-
Thank god, there just aren't enough stores selling mainstream music.
-
well with the demise of kemp hill and willies even less...

What's "underground" music?

Who remembers that there used to be a Kemp Mill up in that neighborhood -- it closed probably '92. It was next to the Safeway, which is now Gold's gym.
It was scary for me to have a record store right there on my walk home from the metro every day...especially as a young 20-something with little cash but a jones for music. I was actually relieved when it closed (bitch that I am...but who'd have thought they'd all close!)
