Johnny Depp is being lined-up to play Michael Hutchence in a movie biopic about the INXS star (http://uk.news.launch.yahoo.com/dyna/article.html?a=/060426/340/ga2ib.html&e=l_news_dm)

I'd rather see him playing Hutchence than Elijah Wood playing Iggy...

i dunno was hutenchence's life really that interesting? he was the singer in a moderately successful rock band, i wouldn't call them "superstars", he starred in one vanity project movie, he stole bob geldof's wife, and then became a washed up rockstar... maybe there was more tabliod stuff downunder, and while a good front man on stage nothing like iggy, morrision, etc...

I guess we'll find out when we see the movie, I think Depp playing anyone can make them seem exciting or interesting even if they weren't.

Well he met his end naked hanging from a rope with cock in hand. That's pretty interesting.

Even more so had it been someone else's!

If it made me millions, I'd be all for it.

His story is like a bibical story, and perhaps offers some universal insight. Like Samson. His hair and the band evolved hand in hand through the mid-80's culminating in the defining Kick in 87/88 and Hutchence's hair in those videos (Need You Tonight/Devil Inside/New Sensation/Never Tear Us Apart). A truly fantastic achievement. Coolest hair of the era. Then, the hair was cut, and the band and everything fell apart. . . They kept trying but the magic was lost.

This thread reminded me of a casting idea I thought of a few months ago. If there was every a Morrissey biopic I'd cast Kiera Knightly in the lead role.
If she had the hairstyle she'd look just like a young Moz.
