Title: How About a Dance Podcast from DC DJs?
Post by: DeathFromAbove1979 on January 21, 2011, 11:14:57 am
Well that's what we started. We're branching out to DJs who are up and coming and coming into town to play. We've gotten some great ones to date [including Tittsworth, Dave Nada, Sabo, Joel Chandler, Grime Syndicate & more] and for the most part they've all been local DJs. We're really happy with our progress so far and we were just hoping some people who dig the dance music in DC or are people who head to the local parties every week. Give us a listen! We're based in VA and have a monthly there also if anyone's interested! You can subscribe on iTunes, follow us on Soundcloud, Twitter, and Facebook!

We received our latest one from Houston [Hyx & Houston] and Illy aka TIGHTEN UP! check them out at www.TightenUp.Biz

Listen to it here:

http://soundcloud.com/dirty-sweaty-nasty/throbcast-011-tightenupdotbiz

To subscribe, follow, or contact us head over to our site: www.DirtySweatyNasty.com

Let me know what you guys think and thanks for listening!

jack as a dj . . . would of been better than heath as a dj.   ;D

Ha! Heath completed embodied the DJ though, look at A Knight's Tale and look at the booth, you can't even tell they're both Heath Ledger.

Astonishing really.

what is like being a dj?  could you write a book about your whole life that you see and the things you may or may not done.  people in general who gravitate toward djs.  i like people who can write books about their crazy lives.

i bet kosmo has a million of them.
Title: Re: How About a Dance Podcast from DC DJs?
Post by: DeathFromAbove1979 on June 29, 2011, 11:31:06 am
I definitely could. The DC Djs I know are pretty grounded. It's funny seeing the people who think it makes them "cool" or something to know a dj... i dunno. Maybe I never put them up that high, I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge huge fans of a lot of people in DC but I never geeked out when I met anyone. Everyone in the scene here is very receptive and humbled. It's awesome. The crowd is what's weird. Sometimes... It'd be interesting to write a book about DJing hahaha. Put 100 people in a room and you in a booth and you're god for an hour.

Last night the me and the whole DSN crew got together and we started mixing, like we usually do, but we decided it had been too long since our last podcast and we are waiting for too many others to just sit around SO we decided to just record a mini one! Well, as the booze flowed and the vibes got real heavy it just blew up into a full podcast. There are mistakes, it was recorded live, and we were kinda drunk. The tracks are solid and it was a ton of fun to mix this all up. Let us know what you guys think and catch us TUESDAY August 30th at Velvet Lounge doing our 2nd monthly in DC! OW!

New DSN Mini Mix is from ME! I wanted to flex a little of what I really like to play in my DJ sets, heavy latin/jungle vibes. Moombahton/Electro/Kuduro is essentially what I play in all of my sets. I had fun putting the tracks together, unfotuntely I had to record at once, no rehearsing and on vinyl :\ so there are hiccups. Give a listen and let me know what you think!

I'm gonna be spinning at Uhall next Saturday for UHELL alongside Uncle Jesse, Reed Rothchild and more! Winner of the costume contest gets free admission to Uhall for a year!

http://soundcloud.com/dirty-sweaty-nasty/dsn-mini-mix-002-the-clown/

Tracklist:
Klever - I'll Be Gone
Steve Starks - Toma Primo
Feezy - Where My White Girls At?
Alvaro - Dancehall Clash [Moombahton Mix]
Lil Wayne - 6 Foot 7 Foot [JWLS Booty]
Zombies For Money - Oy Shaba
Sheeqo Beat - Ghetto Funk Baby [Sheeqo Beat vs. High Rankin Mix]
Buraka Som Sistema - Hangover [Bababa] [Munchi Remix]
Johnny Love - Are You Ready
Nader - Bass [Quality Traps Some Kuduro Remix]
Waka Flocka Ft. Major Lazer & Masters At Work - Pon De Trap [2Deep Bmore Club Re-edit]
Future - Tony Montana

Sick! Thanks man, the sound was off because we didn't have it plugged into the input on my laptop because the cord was fucked up, but it sounded fine. We were just bored and mixing. I'll check that video when I get home because Youtube is blocked at work :\

Any who! Our latest Mini Mix comes from K-Dinos from VA Beach! Nice electro-y dance goodness

http://soundcloud.com/dirty-sweaty-nasty/dsn-mini-mix-007-k-dinos

If you're on the iTunes we have a new Throbcast up from DJ Al, local Breaks DJ who threw us and we liked it enough we threw it up! Got a bunch of great announcements coming up with mixes and parties!

Me + DJXO = Fr33ky Safari and we're doing our first night at Velvet Lounge this coming Tuesday!

DSN is BACK on February 10th for our first party of the year at Sweet Spot! Check out www.Cool-Breezy.com for the full line-up announcement and details tomorrow!

New DSN Mini Mix from Baltimore Club legend SCOTTIE B!!

http://soundcloud.com/dirty-sweaty-nasty/dsn-mini-mix-008-scottie-b

The mix is incredibly high energy, I've been a big fan of Scottie ever since I started listening to dance music. I'm beyond ecstatic to have him out as our first guest of 2012 along with our dear friends Starks & Nacey.

You can also hear the latest mix from the boys including ALL new tracks from them, Hip Hop beats and Moombahton!

New Mini Mix is up from our own Teknoir [The DJ formerly known as XO] he does what he does best and mix some great house, big room electro, and extremely bassy dance chunes. Tons of fun, he worked for what seems like ever on this fucking mix hahaha enjoy it from one of our own!

MY latest mix!

http://soundcloud.com/clownprince/slut-volume-2

I think it's fun, I had fun recording it once I got everything right. There's still some hiccups in it, but you can still party to it. It's the type of music I like DJing the most - Electro, Moombahton, Kuduro and some surprises at the end :)

The next DSN is next Saturday, March 3rd, at District Underground in Adams Morgan! It will be a Cowboys and Indians costume party so head out!

We also have a new Throbcast up on iTunes only, it's a breaks mix!

New Throbcast is up from Jon Kwest! Producer of Bmore Club, Moombahton, Juke and everything in between, I've been a HUGE fan of Jon since I first heard his Baltimore Club music, ever since then I've seen him dive into Dancehall and Electro and everything he touches is turned into gold. He's put together multiple Moombahton compilations and we're VERY happy to have a new mix from him as our latest! Check it out and hear TONS of new Moombahton!

Catch Jon and mine and Teknoir's new project Fr33ky Safari at Velvet Lounge on April 24th!

The internet people usually hate me, I don't really know why. This message board isn't the first place I've been called a dick or whatever by multiple people, but at the end of the day it's the internet. Some people need to relax. But thanks! I try and post whatever I can on my Facebook, I have a bunch of shit that I'm posting up soon.

Throbcast026 is straight up techno from one of my favorite DJ's/producers since I was FIRST introduced to dance music - Johnny Love! aka DEATHFACE based out of NYC and a Trouble & Bass artist. He started in the DJ/production duo known as Guns'N'Bombs a couple years ago but they disbanded and he stayed as Johnny Love until he started producing vicious fucking...like....metal ass Dubstep, he's my favorite Dubstep producer hands down. He asked us if he could do a straight up Techno mix and of course we agreed. He said the mix is for "pitch black rooms" and it definitely lives up to that.

Don't forget to swing into MiG Bar in AdMo tomorrow night for some dance tunes with myself Teknoir and Denman!

Mouth Fox is an inside joke. Twitter was a lot for me too, but I think it's pertty useful. It's like surfing the internet but without doing any surfing. I follow a bunch of blogs, musicians, and news sources and that's where I get most of my news from. It can be a little overwhelming though, like anything else it just takes time.

It's been awhile since we put up a new podcast, we've been taking it kind of slow to get all out things in order. We're happy to be back and to bring a big one from Lithuania's own BOYFRIEND!

http://soundcloud.com/dirty-sweaty-nasty/throbcast027-boyfriend

It's full of dark, sexy, dance music vibes. Best listened to in total darkness. Thanks for listening!

i, also, like aliens and street art.

My obsession with aliens is kind of a secret, but not one I keep from people. I just spend hours watching UFO and alien specials on TV or on Netflix. It's one of the weirder things about me.... But, I love street art. Gaia [one of my current faves] did a huge piece down on H St and I was SO excited when I saw it, it's right across from Toki Underground. I think it's called "Dusk Of H St"....

Here's a new mix from myself!

Check out the only weekly Moombahton party with myself and some friends! No cover! and drink specials all night at Science Club on 19th! PLUS the best Veggie Burger in DC!
