 1) Heaven 17 -- Penthouse and Pavement
 2) Elliott Smith -- Last Call

"execution day" by the new pornographers, which has inexplicably gotten TRIPLE love from party shuffle.

also, it seems destroyer is opening for the NP on their fall tour, including the stop at 930, which is excellent.

I heard a song on imus in the morning that won't get the fuck out of my head even though it's terrible. I didn't catch the name of the song but it is appartently the first masterpiece in the newly-christened genre known as 'hick-hop'. the chorus goes something like this:

"i played chicken with the train train chicken with the train train chicken with the train! yeehaw!"

Not much, other than the fact that I moved to San Francisco almost two years ago.    ;)

I will be more clear next time:  The Mountain Goats are playing two nights in San Francisco next week.

I prefer the Rainbow version.

Roger Glover was no Dio, but it's still a classic '70s arena-rock anthem.

creedence -- "lodi"

The Dude: Do you find them much, these, stolen cars?
Younger Cop: Sometimes. Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck though.
 Older Cop: Or the Creedence.

after listening to some great 60s/70s country-rock lately, i'm struck at how much better it is than the uncle tupelo / wilco 90s revival ... light years better ...
