Brooklyn Vegan article says on sale date is April 1.  I bet this is announced in Thursday email blast and it's a 2 minute general sale.  Hey, it's always worth a shot.

Really hope it's a two ticket/ID at the door deal for this. Obviously it's an instant sellout either way, but still.

i would go further: ONE TICKET.

otherwise scalper will buy two and sell one.... as weird as that is they will do it.. "Meet me in front of 930 and we'll go in together once I pick up tickets"....

The Rhythm of the Saints tour was one of the first arena shows I ever went to. My buddy kurt and I were the only ones standing in our entire section

Paul Simon played 'You Can Call Me Al' and the crowd went crazy so he said "you guys want to hear that again?" and the crowd went more crazy and he played it again

Afterward, the section opposite us was cheering and dancing and Paul Simon waved at the section and said something like "all right!" so Kurt and I felt hurt at being ignored and started screaming "YO PAUL SIMON WHAT THE FUCK YOU FAG LOOK OVER HERE" and he kinda looked at our section and grimaced. There was no encore

...who/what the hell is DCFC?

I was  being purposefully cryptic in case tix were on sale now.  Same with Death Cab, though that's an abbreviation that gets used more often than the band's name here on the board, so not very clandestine...

^^ 2 ticket limit. Photo ID required to pick up tickets. Name on ID must match name of ticket buyer/credit card used to purchase tickets. Tickets are Non-Transferable! No will-call name changes. No advanced will-call pick up, night of show only.

not sure if they will require you to enter venue after picking up tickets.
Title: Re: Paul Simon at Club
Post by: Frank Gallagher on March 31, 2011, 10:49:02 am
You'd think with all this technology they could bar code tickets so when you enter the venue the staph simply scan it and up pops your name that must match your DL? If a show has a limited number of tickets per transaction then that that DL owner must be present for all ticket holders from that transaction to enter................no?

OR!

How about E-tickets like buying airline tickets...you must provide all names of those using the tickets if buying multiple???
Title: Re: Paul Simon at Club
Post by: ggw on March 31, 2011, 11:20:29 am
Thanks Seth.

I don't care what the staph says about you behind your back; you're alright in my book.

Is it really, or does it just keep rejecting your order with the "quantity is too high" message?

I got the latter message about 25 times over the course of an hour before I successfully got a pair of tickets.

not sure. my neighbor is trying to buy me a ticket because she has an amex card and i don't.  she keepts telling me that she can't get the single ticket.

nice neighbor-she'll even come to the venue with me that night to pick up the ticket (per the presale rules)

that is, if she can even get me a ticket!

Tickets are non-transferable. Unless your neighbor plans on attending with you as their guest this plan will backfire on you.

ah, i read right over the non transferable part, i just thought the person picking up the tickets had to be the cardholder who bought the tickets and that will call was only the evening of the show.

ok, got it now. well, we were not able to get tickets so we avoided that situation. but will keep that in mind tomorrow. thanks shadrach for the clarification.

Neither....Graceland!

This begs the question..which is your fave PS song (I feel cool enough to call him PS now). Not including S&G.

Mine would have to be the afore mentioned Graceland or 50 ways to leave your lover..

Ahhh.. there's so many great Paul Simon songs!

But I have a soft spot for Duncan.. two good friends of mine used to "perform" it at parties back in the 90s.. and it was damn good...

American Tune always gives me goosebumps..

the entire Live Rhymin' album is wonderful.. very underrated..

Seeing Paul will be one of the hall of fame 930 shows.. along with Dylan, Cash, Brown...etc..

I am a bit sorry that Paul's frequent drummer Steve Gadd won't be at the shows but such is life..

Aw, geez. I am now in the ring for tickets. I assumed my mom would be uninterested since when we were at a singer/songwriter show, she said "I didn't care for the folk songs. I had enough of it growing up.". Yeah, so, she changed her mind b/c he's at the club <3. Her voice perked up when she heard. And the decent price doesn't hurt. (thanks, Seth!). Wish me luck!
Btw, any remember the Mad Men episode when they used a S&G "Bleecker Street"? Beautiful.

Less than 10 seconds? Gimme a break. Also, TF told me I needed to enter amount of tickets even though I clearly selected "2" each time.
Then it would refresh for no reason and not post any message.

I didn't do anything wrong how didn't I get any? I entered "2", the code, buy. Then it said you must select amount of tickets. (I did select "2").
So I selected 2 again, code, buy it, churn, then the page pooped on itself and it started all over again, clearing the page with NO message about any issues. I had to start all over. Hate TF.

Willie

At the rate his solo career is going, you might be able to get Mick Jagger to play your living room for $60.

I should have specified "doing the songs of the Rolling Stones."

McCartney would be allowed to mix Beatles, Wings, and solo. Which he typically does, right?

At the rate his solo career is going, you might be able to get Mick Jagger to play your living room for $60.

Title: Re: Paul Simon at Club
Post by: Frank Gallagher on April 01, 2011, 03:08:11 pm
Okay....here's my take on those mentioned

Bowie - only every week if I could
Jagger - depends if Top Gear was on telly that night...even a repeat.
McCartney - NOPE
Willie - possibly...so many people love this bloke I have got to be missing something.
Neil - Yep
Bruce - Naw...saw him many years ago. Great show but don't need to see another.
Tom Waits - most definately.
Stevens - with stipulations...see previous comment.

Oh..
PS - Yep.

Others not mentioned

Dylan - nope, love lots of his work but he needs to give up live in my opinion.

Morrission - miserable old twat might not even show up himself, so NO!

Beach Boys - Nope...I must be missing something with these too but don't want to find whatever it is.

BTW- How old is Joe Jackson???

I should have specified "doing the songs of the Rolling Stones."

McCartney would be allowed to mix Beatles, Wings, and solo. Which he typically does, right?

At the rate his solo career is going, you might be able to get Mick Jagger to play your living room for $60.

I guess it's fair that Mick would be allowed to do Stones songs, but who wants to hear any guitar player except Keith? That's much less of a concern with Paul. Plus people have had decades to get used to Paul playing Beatles tunes solo, whereas I don't think Mick does Stones songs (or at least not more than a couple) on his solo tours. I'm totally pulling that factoid out of my bum though.

Let me try and focus the temptation:

Dwight Yoakam
Lyle Lovett
Johnny Cash (just go with it -- assume two years before death)
Aaron Neville
Eric Clapton

So we have 8 immediate family member who wanted to go. The site did not say what the limit would be.  So I bought two tickets and immediately asked my wife to buy two.  She got online and bought two tickets.  OK, Great so far.  Then she got an email a little while later showing REFUND of the price of two tickets?  What the....??????!!!!!!! She used with a different name and credit card (but same mailing address.)  We are not scalpers!! just a family who has listed to Graceland 1 million times!

Ticketnazi can't tell the difference between scalpers and people who have listened to an album a million times I'm afraid.

On the bright side this is proof they do try to avoid scalpers getting tickets.

Although he did tour with NIN in the past.

On the other hand.....any artist of any quality who is allegedly coming to south FL means it's probably an April 1st prank anyway

I had two tickets cancelled too.... schradach sent me the disclaimer (i emailed him to ask him about it after buying the second "household" set) which i missed i don't know why. .i looked for it..

basically my wife bought two yesterday through amex presale. .. i bought two this morning to help out some people with poor ticket kungfu who i knew would get zilch (and they did!)- friends of ours- who want to go bad...i thought about it long and hard before confirming purchase but i could not find anything saying two different people who lived together couldn't buy them..

but it got cancelled pretty quick... i'm just glad the amex presale ones did not get cancelled..my wife would be so ticked off..

what i saw said "2 per order" not "2 per order, household, " etc.. but schradach sent me the fine print and its in there

i'm still a bit nervy that they'll cancel the other ones but i don't think so..

You could just call this guy:

But on a serious note, kudos to Seth and co. for doing all this to at least try to keep scalpers out. $50 ticket price concerned me at first, because I was expecting them to cost way more, but it looks like they're actually following through on some of these anti-scalper threats. Obviously it remains to be seen what pops up on Stubhub/Craigslist, but so far it's a good sign.

no the best part, if its the same ad, is the part about "I will give out cell phone number an hour before show" or some such..i think they changed it to "BUYER WILL BE PROVIDED

WITH MY CELL PHONE TO DISCUSS MEETING TIME .        "

930 should sue for illegal use of 930 logo.

i'd love to see that guy beat the shit out of this scalper.. have that guy buy ticket and then beat shit out of him or something..

Yeah, that too. Same ad. I love how they try to spin it as a personable touch. He'll even deliver the tickets to you, by hand, the night of the show! Good man.

As he takes $1000 from the buyer and then picks up his tickets only to be ushered straight into the club.

its kind of funny.. the ad started earlier today saying two tickets for 999$ minimum and now its one ticket for 499$

maybe guy realized he'll have to check out show after all!

That's awesome. Even though a buyer for that one ticket will still net him a good profit. Still an improvement over dozens of people posting 8+ tickets for a show like this.

If you're making 250K (or more) per year, $500 for a concert ticket is nothing. Also, someone who pays that kind of money is more likely a bucket lister than a regular concert goer.
