Title: Parking @ RnR Hotel
Post by: Bagley on March 29, 2011, 02:21:00 pm
Anyone have any experience parking there?  Is it fairly safe?  or should I park at Union Station and get a cab?

I have parked on H st, blocks away behind the venue, on side streets, till 2 am, and whatever other way you can park in that area and have never had a problem.

There's probably more people of ill repute hanging around Union Station than in the RNR neighborhood. Even on days when Radiohead isn't giving away their stupid newspaper.

I park near there every day after work, seems pretty safe to me.

DON'T PARK ON H STREET OR ANYWHERE NEAR H STREET!  DON'T EVEN DRIVE THERE!  CRIME IS ON THE RISE, PEOPLE.  I ONCE SAW A CAR WITH A SMASHED WINDOW - OR MAYBE IT WAS JUST ROLLED DOWN, DOESN'T MATTER - AND I BARELY GOT OUT OF THERE WITH MY LIFE.

I live about 10 blocks from the RNR Hotel. You'll find parking within two or three blocks. No worries.

Or was the arsonist so good, that not even a single ash remained?  Makes you think, doesn't it?  No?  Well screw you, man!

It's fine to park there. Park on 13th St, Maryland Ave or G St, which are a block south of H Street.

These days the biggest danger around H Street is you might get bumped into by a pseudohipster while he's checking his Iphone.

I parked over there when I DJ'd RNR for two years and still do because I go to shows there all the time. I've never had a parking or crime problem over there. I usually park south of the club by a few blocks.

on the topic of RnR Hotel-how are they with sticking with posted set times? if it says door at 8 and show at 8.30 is that indeed the case or should i tack on an hour for the show time?

i've got tickets to federico aubele at the end of the month and just want to plan acordingly if it will indeed by 8.30 (ie, leave work at a decent hour).

the great thing about H Street is that it still seems dangerous, so your less courageous friends will be in awe of you and think of you as edgy for going there, but it isn't actually dangerous unless you're sporting your Rolex in plain view.

After a show at RnR hotel a month ago my friend and i were waiting at a traffic light and we saw a hipster run across the street and fall into a puddle. He then looked around to see if anyone saw it. It was the best thing ever.

Thanks everyone for your input.  Parked on 13th and had no problem whatsoever. The neighborhood was more gentrified than I thought, actually......fyi- Felice Bros., the headliners,  started @ 10 last night.  Great show!   Better acoustics than the Black Cat

I'm trying to keep it real down here.  I blame my neighbors.
