It does seem pretty quixotic (unless I'm missing something) but at least they're TRYING.  And if they throw in some Hoodoo Gurus or Skinny Puppy amongst their 30% Linkin Park/30% RHCP/40% Foo Fighters format, that can't be a bad thing, can it?  What about all the poor kids that can't afford a Droid?

I just read an article about the failure of RXP in New York.  If you can't have a modern rock station (a modern rock station that played Weezer AND Guns N Roses) succeed in a city with 12+ million, then you can't have a modern rock station.  How "rock" is a niche.   Like "jazz."  Luckily, Steely Dan are grandfathered in.

OOOH Do they still have Damien, Weazel and Zoltan, the brother from another planet?  ::)

Who was the girl DJ?  Her name escapes me but she was pretty good.

Sadly it seems to be an "Oldies" station of 90s rock.  Not forward looking as it was in its heyday.

"Alternative" rock isn't as forward looking as it was in its heyday.  Don't let Pitchfork fool you.  We're not all winning.  "Modern Rock" to most of the population is The Foo Fighters.  And every generation deserves the Bad Company it receives.

I'm such an old man but most "modern rock" and especially "active rock" vocals these days sound like Eddie Vedder-devolved ultra-"macho" growl-vomiting. Is this why a new rock band like Gaslight Anthem can't break through on the radio? Not enough manly growl-vomit?

HA! POTW!!!
When I was still at home my dad used to say, "this rubbish all sounds the same" (Really dad? Bowie, Elton John, Rod Stewart?)......unfortunately, these days, it's absolutely true. Creed-clones the lot of em! Don't forget the lyrics have to be about his flaws and vulnerabilities....kind of like country music without the cowboy hat.

And Dave Grohl is right up there with the worst Creed clones yet he gets a pass from this board. Why?

Look, I don't really love Grohl, but I think that's a pretty bad comparison:

1) The Foos debut came out like 5 years before Creed's did, and

2) He might be extremely bland rock, but he doesn't really sound like that whole batch of constipated Vedder clones.

But don't misunderstand...he's still boring.

I'll give you 1.

And their first record didn't sound like the crap they morphed into after.

But does Everlong Grohl really sound that much different from Scott Stapp?

This is good. . .hope its more like the pre-Nevermind alternative is the new mainstream HFS.  Wish the RNR signal was upgraded too.  Why can't I get RNR when driving in DC?  Will be nice to have a radio option in addition to Delilah and The Original Quiet Storm.

Isn't CPR also at 97.5 in DC?
