For people that are going to this tomorrow, what time are you planning to arrive?
I'm guessing this won't fill to capacity, but I don't really know what to expect with these free shows.
-
I work in Georgetown and am shooting to be on my way by 4:30. So hopefully no later than 5:30 via public transport?
Supposedly there is a shuttle from Foggy Bottom to the Kennedy Center that leaves every 10 minutes.
-
i was going to go . . . free j . . . are you kidding me? but alas we got flooding in our area, i live over a low water bridge, and i'm not going anywhere today. isn't it suppose to rain today, too.
-
for those that can't make it you can stream the performance live (video) through the kennedy center website fyi
i can't make it which burns me up but them's the breaks...
-
Weather has also screwed me on this. I'm pretty damn bummed.
May try to watch via stream, though. Will hardly make up for missing a pretty unique event.
-
Probably quicker to walk.

it won't, it's gonna be at the "grand" foyer after all

The shuttle from Foggy to the KC is for the old farts. Quit being lazy and hoof it.
-
ride the shuttle. you can be all drunk and stuff and mumble old dinosaur lyrics. on the streets that will get you killed.
-
Damnit Walkies. I was hoping to tell you how wrong you are about the Dino catalog in person. Maybe someday.
Not walking anywhere in the rain.
-
You're in luck. weather.com shows a break in the rain from 4-7.
Guess that's when I'll do my run today.

and i was going to wear a cute shirt . . . of a kitten with its head cut off. darn.

watching live . . . damn . . . j is destroying that kennedy center place. i would love to see the faces of those who are walking to other shows and checking out the center, only to hear the master pedal into electric.
this is what a proper dinosaur jr show should be, azag, when you get back and are reading this. j knows to respect the mighty kennedy center with a full catalogue.
-
That was awesome. Acoustic J with all the fuzzy guitar solos you could ask for. First time at the Ken Cen and Mill Stage, what a beautiful venue. They need more alternative acts there.
While we are at it, how do you pronounce J's last name? Is it Mas-ssis or Mask-iss?
-
mas (as in mask, mast) cis (like kiss)
almost like saying
j mass kiss
-
As other have said, awesome. I didn't expect all the Dino songs, or all the fuzzed out guitar based on his solo record.
-
Fantastic set. I thought "this is a Walky set" to myself a few times.
-
Got it. All in the name of truth and accuracy.
-
Or maybe you could broaden your musical palate a bit.

good size crowd. most seats were occupied. very loud up front, especially the last 15 minutes. probably the loudest kc/millenium show i have ever been to. also the best kc/millenium sound mix i have ever heard. it almost seemed like the guitar sound came from the stage and the vocals from the pa system.
-
just got my les miz tickets :)

What a Treat!!!!!......He just killed it last night. Sound was crystal clear. Audience was in awe.
Anybody know what the caterpillar song was, and from which disc?

Incredibly bummed that I missed this. There's a show every year that it kills me to miss and this will be the one.
Maybe this will open the door for other artists to consider doing something similar.
-

Nah. I'd rather have a refined palate than a broad palate. But thanks for the suggestion anyway, you disingenuous tard.
-
Thanks Walkonby..... FYI, probably could have done without the E. Brickell tune. Guess it was his "Anticipation" equivalent
-
Your loss I guess. Suit yourself and stick to your Pearl Jam, mr refined bro. They're so "alternative".

When did I claim as such?

i was hoping for no sidebars in this thread . . . in honor of the mighty j. quiet down class.

you realize you aren't in the strongest position when it comes to telling others not to stink up a thread of off-topic content, right? ;D

I remember when Supergrass canceled their first DC appearance at the old 9:30, so I went to see J do an acoustic set at the Black Cat, and was positively blown away at what joy he is to watch solo. I remember he did a cover of "The Boy With the Thorn in His Side" by the Smiths. Great guitarist.
