Title: Grey Delisle Roll Call
Post by: Charlie Nakatestes, Japanese Golfer on June 10, 2005, 09:04:00 am
So is anyone going to see Grey Saturday night? I wonder if she will grace us with her crooning cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"? Rumor has it that two of these guys will be there as well.

Hello Rhett

Yes, we'll be there although we'll probably miss both openers due to another social engagement

I thought you'd be more psyched about Bobby Bare ...

Bonjour.

Bobby Bare Jr. was good, as usual. However, not as good as a three piece than when he had a more fleshed out band with horns, cheesy keyboards, and the oh so cute chick backup singer. Bobby just oozes cool.
Grey Delisle was a yawnfest. Murry needs to grow some balls and tell his wife she's better as the voice of Daphne on Scooby Doo than she is a singer. And Grey needs to grow some balls and tell Marvin Etzioni that Grey is the leder of the band. And Marvin needs to learn how to pick a mandolin rather than just wail on it. Bohemian Rhapsody was cringe inducing.

Old 97's were their usual solid entertaining selves. The fact that they're going to do a live album tells me their creativity is waning. I was also wondering whether Rhett got his shirt at Chess King or Merry Go Round. My wife guessed Chess King.

And people who push their way to the front (pretending they are trying the make their way over to meet up with friends then suddenly stopping six inches in front of someone) and stand in front of others  who have been holding their upfront spot for two hours are assholes.

    Ciao.

The last 3 albums should have done that for you.

just don't light up a cigarette next to them, you'll get thrown out quicker than you can blink!

we missed Bobby Bare

Grey DeLisle was eh, okay, and yes, Bohemian Rhapsody was awful

Old 97s were good, a lot of fun, and I think played with signif more energy than the last time they were in town

2 encores w/ a total of nice songs - 2 hours of music overall - great value for money

in many ways I thought they played like a band not planning to be in DC for a long time....

missed both openers as I was otherwise engaged...would like to see Bobby at some point.
Good enough show...thought last year's was smoother if I had to critique...only 2 Rhett solos this time...
and yeah, what a photo from the archives..
I don't think the new live album to be release means they are losing their creativity.
