I saw them at the Cap Center one time but wasn't into it at all.... I bet it was a great show but we had some crappy seats and at that point Rush was just about as far as you could get from what i was into (Matador bands).. back then I always ended up in the worst seats for some reason.. I blame my friend who'd get the tickets... same thing happened with the Stones. All I remember is they played 2112 and people were psyched about that.
I guess the show was November 7, 1996.. so almost 15 years ago.
actually no wonder I was not into it.. the set list just would not work for me... knowing my friend we probably missed the first few songs too! :)

I actually think that setlist is pretty good. Although I didn't attend the show, I remember Rush being the first band to play the new arena in my hometown during their Test for Echo tour.

'Red Barchetta' is a DJ's friend at 6 minutes length you had time to take a piss and grab some coffee while on the air.

You do the substitution.

Be nice. You know you might have been conceived with '2112' in the background. It was that or Wings 'Band on the Run'? It's all so hazy...

None. I DESPISE Rush almost as much as I hate Metallica, GnR, and Boston.

its silly to despise any music..just don't listen to it but there's so much good music out there its silly to spend time hating any of it.. just don't listen to it.

1. Grace Under Pressure (far and away my favorite rush album)
Agreed and amen. I don't listen to too much Rush anymore, but I still enjoy listening to Grace Under Pressure as much as when I first discovered how awesome of an album it is. Enemy Within, Between the Wheels, Red Sector A, Distant Early Warning. They're all EXCELLENT live songs, too.
Smoke a bad one, crack open a Bell's Two Hearted, throw on some Grace Under Pressure. GOOD TIMES.

Can you just segue this into "Favorite Dungeons & Dragons Modules" or "Favorite Dr. Who episodes" and be done with it?

brian: you should spend less time twisting your panties into a knot over things you can't control (i know, it's frustrating, there there) and spend more time on fantasy football. this past week you left Julio Jones in your lineup - he was deactivated as of last wednesday. less hatin', mo' winnin'.

Brian,
I know it upsets you to hear people talk about Rush. Your mother and I thought you were always asleep before making love to 'Fly by Night'. You have to realize your mother's voices of pleasure made sweet harmony to Geddy Lee.
Its good to hear you keep playing that Dungeons and Dragons game despite your displeasure with nostalgia.

Considering my name and how I turned out I always assumed I was conceived under the influence of these gentlemen:

...whilst "Virginia Plain" was playing. You know, during the false ending.
I believe they're called "Sha Na Na."

Well, like I've tried to say before, they weren't our scene. They were too pretty and dressed like girls.
We made glorious love to music from better looking cats.

I'd have to say Rush by Big Audio Dynamite.

Not really. I like some of their very early stuff but lately they have become an old guy boy band. However I do make a lot of money by running a web site dedicated to them. Ain't capitalism great!

I never choose to. However at times what is playing is playing. Rush, Boston, and Metallica literally hurt my ears, especially the horrid keyboards form Rush. Then again with the wide variety of music I enjoy, I am almost 100% sure that any given member of this forum would find something that I listen to to be distasteful.

Not really.
the search function severely limits how much one can back-pedal nowadays:
The shows that I can REMEBER having front row setas for were:
Aerosmith
B52s
John Prine
Arlo Guthrie/Pete Seeger
Steve Vai/Zappa Plays Zappa
Rolling Stones
Kid Rock
Joe Jackson
In 1997 I was in the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh for an Aerosmith concert. I was in the fan club and had seats on the floor about the 6th row.
Hey Seth, if you can pull this one off then you are indeed a god! Aerosmith is on tour right now and when they wind things up, Joe Perry will be releasing a new solo CD. Rumor has it he is reforming the Joe Perry Project for a tour. If you can book them I may have to buy up all the tickets myself for me and all of my Aerosmith friends!
and for the grand finale.... when asked which band have you seen the most:
Aerosmith > 100
Sevendust > 50
Others in double digits:
Old Crow Medicine Show
Robert Randolph
Puddle of Mudd
Citizen Cope
Cheap Trick
Henry Rollins
Lou Reed
The Hives
Other I can't recall as of now.
hate on rush and metallica all ya want, but your sh*t stinks too ;D

None of that counters anything I said. Note I did not say I never liked ^A^. Just said that I prefer their earlier stuff and lately they have become the world's oldest boy band. I stand by that. I do wish Joe would solo tour again through. He is still quite the old school rocker and I am sure a lot of my friends who are still huge fans of the band would attend just like I said they would in the prior post. Having said that, none of it changes the fact that those keyboards in Rush are horrid! :)

The D&D knock is so predictable and unoriginal, but I'd expect nothing less from Brian Wallace.
