Title: Music
Post by: HoyaSaxa03 on October 28, 2011, 09:35:32 am
i know we have a lot of threads about chicken nuggets and lolcats, but how about we actually get something sustainable going where we recommend music (crazy, i know) ... links help ....

it's a year+ old, but i can't stop listening to Delorean's Subiza (http://open.spotify.com/album/1Xl3ibPzUoDmMrHcr8J32T) (spotify link)

I am pretty sure we have all become victims of Walkonby's Occupy 9:30 Forum movement.  He has no real agenda, he's just camping here and defecating wherever he feels like it.

For the dirty rap/girl rap/trap music lover: Iggy Azalea

http://iggyazalea.com/

Her mixtape is free! I think it's 9 or 10 tracks and it's surprisingly good! Nice production and she's not bad at rapping. Plus she has a nice ass. Not like huge Nicki Minaj fake giant ass. Nice round noticeable, biteable ass.

She's no Kreayshawn either, Iggy is actually half decent.

Been constantly listening to Deer Tick's new album "Divine Providence", Idle Warship "Habits of the Heart" and Reptar's EP

I also have surprisingly liked MUTEMATH's new album Odd Soul.  First stuff I've liked from them...

I suppose I was living under a rock or something, but I just found out that We Are Augustine is basically Pela renamed, plus or minus a band member. I really enjoyed Pela's performances when I saw them live, and Anytown Graffiti back in 2007-2008. I'm glad to see they're back on the scene in some form or another.

Ardamus, I was extremely impressed by your set last night at DC9. In fact, I told my buddy it was by far the best set I'd seen by any band all year.

Unfortunately, it was then followed by G-Side, which took the crown and truly put on an incredible performance. Best hip-hop set I've ever seen. That was a performance that I wish everyone who thinks live hip-hop sucks could have seen.

But I will go see you every chance I get. When you were solo up there, you totally had it going and I was a little chagrined when you brought those 5 dudes up. But everyone of them was great and all of you guys together was next-level! Seriously, not a bad one in the bunch and the dude that looked like Richard Hamilton was killing it. Loved seeing some local talent, especially given how fucking awesome G-Side were.

Thank you, man. Homie.....you should've let me know who you were. I had drink tickets and would've hooked you up. Appreciate it. G-Side had their set more together so its only right that they were the headliners. But hopefully, the set will be tighter in the end.

It was fun as fuck to do that show. Hell, I was talk to the dude CP about maybe some stuff with Block Beataz.

this is a nice album, like a not-as-good early against me!

best line from the paste review (http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2011/06/frank-turner-england-keep-my-bones.html):  "It helps that at times Turner?s voice brings to mind an oddly appropriate blend of Billy Bragg sincerity and NoFx leader Fat Mike?s irreverence."

one of the new guys at the club runs a blog about heavy music called "heavy uber alles."  he puts up a list of six songs every tuesday for people to check out.  he asked me to do a guest spot and send him a "tuesday six."  i did my own take on what "heavy" means.  you can check it out here:

EMA - Past Life Martyred Saints  [spotify (http://open.spotify.com/album/48haSiuyZcBdSvqeQOD1Hp)] [pitchfork (http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/15386-past-life-martyred-saints/)]

the first track, grey ship (http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/12092-the-grey-ship/), makes the album, it's really really awesome ... take it away and the rest is kind of blah
