Seth Hurwitz and the team behind the popular D.C. nightlife spot, 9:30 Club, are in discussions to manage the music venue planned for The Wharf development along the Southwest Waterfront.
(shameless plug, for those who are interested in this stuff, I pick up links like these dealing with the local DC music scene in my daily music roundup here (http://"http://www.showlistdc.com/more"), or add it to your RSS feed with this link (http://"http://www.showlistdc.com/more/feed"))

Kind of old news I think. Over the summer, Seth had Thievery Corporation perform out at this location for two nights I believe with some excellent feedback.

Well...there can never be too many. Have you checked out the Hamilton yet?

Yeah, that show and the idea of a music venue there was old news. The vision of having the 9:30 operate the space permanently (with a timeline and images of the space) was new.

A music venue that has yet to be built is old news? And TC played a venue that has yet to be built?

it was only one night. they played at the Kastle tennis stadium. t'was indeed a great event - well run, good sound, nice views, food trucks, etc. i'm assuming that this new venue mentioned in the article will be a dedicated music venue, as opposed to taking over center court for a weekend. that said, i'd be in favor of more take-overs this summer!
i'm mostly excited about this new permanent club because it represent an additional opportunity to "accidentally" kick madgypsy in the balls while moshing.

No... there hasn't been anyone there IMO worth seeing.
Had dinner there the one evening to check out the place though and I won't be dining there again, that's for sure.

Hey Seth,
Was the old Uline Arena/Washington Coliseum space ever a consideration for the relocation from F street?
Has Doug Jemal ever talked to you about reviving it as a venue?
It has some cool music history to it even beyond the first US Beatles show. The scene of an iconic Bob Dylan cover shot, riots over the Temptations, The Ink Spots, The Rolling Stones, Charley Parker.
Not that the Wharf wouldn't be sweet. It's sad to see a space like Uline not redeveloped yet.

Any branching out or additional venue acquisition/opening under the 9:30/IMP umbrella is welcome in my book, no doubt about it. Seth and company haven't disappointed yet, and I don't expect them to start anytime soon. The U Street partnership is an awesome move in my opinion, and I think the sky's the limit as far as what 9:30/IMP can accomplish if they put their collective mind to it.

personally I'd hope more bands would bypass that god forsaken middle of nowhere Jiffy Lube Pavilion - bring them closer to the city I say!
