My little sister is a big fan.
-
The douchebag that runs absolutepunk.net said the singer was like the next Bob Dylan or something.
-
I listened to it...ughh really really bad. That type of singing is so played out.
-
sweet jesus, that band sucks ass. the name of the song that comes up on their myspace is called, "wow, i can get sexual too."
how is this shit ever made?
-
thanks, I think. I will report on them saturday...
-
they remind me of stroke 9's "little black backpack"
-
Cameron Crowe should really put a stop to the desecration of the name too.
-
Okay I am going to have to be there, and I should have DJ powers. So what should I play? I was thinking the dischord collection, maybe Weston, or just go all out and play Metal Machine Music.
-
guys, let me say something. say anything's debut record is a rarity. you really have to give it a chance and sit down with it and realize the complete tongue-in-cheek notion that max is giving off. the guy writes ingenius lyrics. say anything is one of my favorite bands right now - once you figure them out, they're awesome.
-
You know, you don't think it can be that bad. UGH. Don't besmirch the name of "Little Black Backpack" by associating the two. (I admit to loving that song when it came out, but it aged FAST and not well). ;)
I think the vocals are an Onion version of a pop punk wannabe lead singer....

dont wanna talk about it.

Anytime someone is thinking of playing Weston, I have to encourage it. Just play "Real Life Story..." front to back. Then Stroke 9.

They sound like The Kinks on acid having spilled chocolate in the Pixies' peanut butter. Simply Saucer coming out of the closet years later after studying yoga. Elliot Smith on uppers, Beck before scientology. Townes Van Zandt playing some Burt Bacharach songs with Camper Van Beethoven. Pavement's Wowee Zowee, Belle & Sebastian, Destroyer, Nick Drake on a Sunday morning.

Don't wanna think about it
I say there's got to be some good reason
For your little black backpack

Not too bad a band. Was actually a pretty good show. It sold out before the show and the 3 bands played well. The first two were more aggressive punk (The Bled and The Sleeping) and developed a good little mosh pit action. Say Anything are pretty tight, their drummer is great, their singer needs to work on belting it out better but the audience was singing so loud that it really didn't matter. That and I got home by 11pm.
-
Were you running sound?
-
Yep.
