Tickets are listed for sale at ticketmaster and ticketfly. Any difference?
-
My understanding is that since it's at Strathmore, the Ticketmaster link is "correct"-- the show uses the venue's ticketing agency even if it's promoted by IMP.
Others may have more direct experience.
-
Not sure if this helps, but for a short time The National (Richmond) had links up for both Ticketmaster and Ticketfly on all shows. I bought through Ticketfly for the St. Vincent show and I know others used Ticketmaster.
-
You can buy tickets right now on the Strathmore Website. Just got Orchestra Row H.
-
I pulled some good seats, then it kicked me out and said that tickets were only available for Strathmore members. Bummer.
-
Weird. I ordered tickets from them earlier this year, and have an account, but am not an official member. I hope they don't tell me I can't have the tickets...
-
Yeah earlier it said you could get tickets but now it says you have to be a member. I was able to see tickets earlier for orchestra. So how is this place for shows???? Is it like DAR and Warner?? Last time I saw him was at Warner a few years ago.
;D
-
I saw Sigur Ros there a really long time ago and it was one of the most beautiful shows I've ever seen. It's an excellent venue!
-
The Warner show was really great.
-
Sounds good, I'll try my luck for tickets on ticketmaster come Friday
;D
-
I saw Bryan Ferry there and it sounded great. It has seats but people were still dancing, I'll be there for sure.
-
Presale tickets already gone at 12pm to the minute . . . really?? Anyone else have any luck?
-
nope, i got nuttin'.
-
Nada
-
I got nothing too. So what's up with that? Was there a glitch?
-
Dunno. I pulled 2 upper tier seats, last row, LOL. I figure I'll try tomorrow.
-
It's a rip off, that's what it is. I guarentee you StubHub was able to get some.
Also....I called Ticketmaster too and they couldn't find me one ticket, anywhere.
-
i got tix for the moz presale at davies symphony hall in sf. quite excited. never seen a show there . should be awesome. tomorrow ill have to hope im just as lucky getting david byrne/st vincent tix.
-
hint: Always call the Strathmore box office. They sell me tickets everytime and it's quick and painless. I usually get decent seats too

So are you suggesting for this tomorrow instead of ticketmaster?
;D
-
Something tells me if all of us call at the same time, not everyone will get such wonderful seats.
-
Very true. Are you going to try get front stage tickets? Two tickets is close to 200 bucks ;D
-
There's no way my seats will be as good this time!
-
Well, I'll still try my darndest for the good seats. Now with this show being at this date and if the rumors for Radiohead possibly playing Barclay center on 12/7 and 12/8, then I might have to skip out on this show
;D

You were in the row in front of us last time, but I was too shy to say hello :)
-
I'm sorry that you didn't. Next time definitely say hi.
-
don't know if I wanna spend $75 on Morrissey. I was able to get last minute tix on ebay for the Rams Head Live show in 2007 for $15. The Pixies at DAR for $10. Fiona Apple show this past Tuesday was $16. Scalpers buy all the tickets when they go on sale then sell it cheap anyway when no one buys them.

that is awesome! I like having the security of the tickets in hand...
That Pixies show was wonderful.
-
I've never had luck with scalpers so just like above I like security of tickets already in hand
;D
-
Scalping is ridiculous. I've gotten into plenty of majorly sold out shows for face value or less. I've gotten into a Foo Fighters show at the club for face value. One time I got free tickets to see Smashing Pumpkins w/Queens of the Stone Age at the Club in 1999 (when Jimmy Chamberlain rejoined the band) and I couldn't find anyone to go, so I gave my ticket to someone. The guy I gave it to was beside himself and that was something I'll never forget.
-
Back to Morrissey tickets...does it make sense to go through the Strathmore's web site or Ticketmaster? Or does it matter?
-
It's called three computers, I didn't even think about Strathmore site
;D
-
Damn you! :)
-
Nothing
-
AHHHHHH, damn you freaking scalpers!!!!!
-
anyone try calling??? That shit sold out fast. I was on ticketmaster first then at 10:03 or so went to Sthrathmore site and it showed everything was sold out except promenade then I click that then it showed all sold out, how the hell
-
shut out as well.
maybe a second date will be added (unlikely)?
will hope that friendly 930 bber has extra ticket or there is a non douchebag on craig's list willing to sell his or her extra for face value.
-
Nope, I doubt second date will be added, wow I've never seen that before as far as ticket sales go. Crazy
;D
-
nothing...
-
everything is on stubhub, bastards
;D
-
both me and my boy snagged a pair... both were in tiered levels so i threw mine back.
i just pulled it up on safari and firefox and had a bit of luck.
-
just pulled an ORCH row M, not bad at all
-
Got one row M too :)
-
ahhhh, no doubles but singles, i need doubles
-
how and when did you see these? i got nothing every time i was there for last half hour.
argh.
-
I tried again after reading Ms. Pretentious' post...and then suddenly I realized there were more tickets available...keep trying I guess...
-
was just able to pull up a single.
-
anyone else going to the atlantic city gig?
-
Here's what I sent to the Strathmore, and their response:
I tried to get pre-sale tickets yesterday both online and via phone at Tickemaster for the Morrissey show on 12/7, and none were available. Which I found odd. I went to the 9:30 Club website user forum and read that no one was able to get tickets either. So I called your box office this morning at 10:00 AM to get tickets and was told the show is sold out. How is that possible? Clearly the Ticketmaster presale was ambushed by companies like StubHub somehow. Who already had tickets for sale on their site this morning. But even pre-sales have limited tickets available. How did the rest of the tickets get sold out by 10:00 AM on the actual day they went on sale? I know there is a Strathmore membership where your customers also get to order the day before they go on sale to non-members, but I find it impossible that even they purchased all of the tickets in advance too. Can you explain how this happened?
Mr. Clark,
It?s complicated, but I can explain it. I don?t think it will make you feel better, though.
Yes, ticket brokers abuse the websites and have algorithms that help them do that. Unfortunately, until the government actually figures out a way to make scalping tickets illegal we are left unprotected. The artists gets paid no matter what; it is the patrons and the venues/promoters that are being taken advantage of. TicketMaster has the resources to program more defenses into their system (though I?m not sure that they actually do this), but a non-profit like Strathmore does not. We are aware of who most of the brokers that buy through our site are and try to limit them and defend ourselves when we can.
When IMP rents Strathmore they place most of the inventory on sale at TicketMaster. Strathmore is generally allotted about 15% of the house to sell. IMP almost always does a PreSale for folks on their mailing list. They only sell about 25% of their inventory on PreSales. That may seem unfair when they run out after about an hour (which is what happened yesterday and why people were not able to buy tickets later in the day), but they are actually doing to protect patrons in general to be sure there are a good amount of tickets available for the public sale. If you did not know about a PreSale or did not want to pay to be in a fan club, then wouldn?t you be devastated to find out something has sold out on a PreSale? For that reason, I believe there are contractual obligations to being sure there is inventory for public sale.
IMP does not often allow Strathmore to do a PreSale as well, but for this event they allowed us to extend the PreSale to our members (an annual donation program ? Strathmore is a non-profit). We also only sold a portion of our inventory on the PreSale. Unfortunately, since we only had 15% of the house to begin with that did not leave us with very much inventory this morning and we blew through it in less than 10 minutes. I can confirm that only one known broker got tickets through our site and it was only a few.
That?s how it works! Sorry for the long explanation. It?s a gift and a curse. Keep checking TicketMaster and even our site? especially closer to the event. As things shift around, you may see availability, particularly on the day of the show.
Hope that helps and I am truly am sorry you were unable to get tickets.
Thanks,
Hilary White
Assistant Ticket Office Manager

Well that was a very nice letter with a clear explanation. I guess all the ones who didn't get tickets should try when the date gets closer. I do know that singles were able to be grabbed as you see some of the guys here get that. I just know I couldn't get two at any time
;D
-
What a sweet response.
-
"and the venues/promoters that are being taken advantage " - I don't see how the venues and promoters are being taking advantage. They get their money no matter if a scalper or someone going to see the show pays for the ticket. And if the scalpers can't sell their tickets they still get paid.
But on another note it is nice to know that Morrissey has become popular again. I remember when he couldn't sell out michael's eight avenue in Glen Burnie.
-
i guess this puts to rest all of that . . . 'the smiths reunion.'
-

When was that? The first time I saw Morrissey was at the Capitol Ballroom around 1996 and it was sold out. Then at the 9:30 Club a few years later. Again, sold out. The next time was at Wolf Trapp in Vienna back around 2006. The Pavillion was full and had to be sold out. I certainly didn't see any empty seats. Not sure about the lawn. But it was pretty damn full too. That was the last time he played the D.C. area.

Didn't he play DAR recently as well? He did have a late '90s slump in the UK as well, but came back with "You Are The Quarry".
-
Ive seen the bastard twice. In richmond at the national and the very next night at Warner hall.
;D

I thought that show at the National was really good. Tight band, Morrissey seemed into it and appreciative of the enthusiasm. Good time.
-
Two Terminal 5 nights added, 10/12-13.

Oh nice, another show that will be impossible to get tickets
;D

Is this tour continuing now that he's president of Egypt?
-
I laughed.
-
Morrissey is actually President of the world...
-
Early this morning I heard about a poster someone made that placed a picture of Moz in a poster having something to do with the new president of Egypt. Can't find it online for anything.
Where's GGW when we need him? Isn't he off scaling some mountain top again?
