Seriously, it's no secret that a lot of electronic acts have backing tracks, but put SOME effort into making it look real even if you're not going to be playing anything. That really pisses me off...like why bother even showing up to perform?
I've caught a few artists doing the exact same thing with not even running an audio cable or a power cord to their controller. Sucks :(

Agreed.
And if it really is impossible for them to reproduce their music live, then they should do a DJ tour and make no pretense of "performing" their own tracks.

This has been blown totally out of proportion...
??I didn??t notice at first, because as you can see I was looking at the computer to launch the next vocal hook and right after I realised that the blue screen went black, so there was no way possible it could work. So I plugged it back in, big deal! And the next thing you know is this picture.?

Haters.
Jesus.
And this is totally part of one of their DJ sets. People need to do research before they go off the handle like this.

i think people should be bitching that they are wearing jean jackets. give it up indie goombas, denim on any other place beside your ass, will never come back.

I agree. walkonby. these guys are complete idiots. you people should be ashamed of yourselves.
I guess you have to give credit to someone though, for making electronic music cheap and watered down enough for everyone to enjoy!

Moby's bigtoe is more creative and everyone at a Justice concert put together.
moby's recent (8years) releases are not the pinnacle of his work but still ..... I have 500 DJ mixtapes from the 90s from local DJs trying to get booked at any club possible that are more well crafted than Justice.

There are definitely better electronic acts out there. Groups get so much hype off of a couple of "hit" songs, that by the time everyone realizes they arent that great, the damage has been done. At least there are acts out there that actually plug in there gear. Underworld and Pnema Trio are two off the top of my head that do electronic music live, and good. When i saw Justice earlier this year at Sonar, i was expecting a DJ style set, and thought that was what they were doing. Didnt realize they were just mashing random buttons to look cool.
And Sonick, i used to be really into DJ mixes, and have also heards hundreds that are better than Justice as well. The appeal for me to see them, was they were going to be mixing their own songs. DJ's who dont produce absolutely have to rely on mixing skill, because they dont have the luxury of having an original set of their own music. But to do what Justice did, its just lazy. Justice exists outside of the magical "third song" realm, that is the bread and butter of mixing. I almost feel tricked, i really thought they were mixing it up. They at least looked like they were. With their lit cigs and their Frenchness.

will someone explain the difference between a dj set of your music and mixing a set of your music? do these guys come up with electronic songs and then mix over them during the set? whats the deal?

does anyone really care? i saw them live (when they were "performing") and regardless of whether it was 'real' or not - i had an amazing time and the crowd did too. isnt that what this is all about.
and it was the first show i met sweetcell at :) and midnight juggernauts opened for them. hell that show was downright awesome!
maybe new yorkers just dance more

Or they just plain have a better time.
Justice mix their own tracks into dj sets, now mostly just remixes of their songs or new edits and new versions of their songs. ANd mix with other tracks as per usual with a dj set. Their "live" show is mostly comprised of refurbished old songs, made heavier, longer, shorter, quieter. Their live show is AMAZING. I don't get what the giant deal is with people being so PISSED at them because they're not recreating every single one of their songs, they manipulate the tracks and all the lights. It's elaborate and does take a bit of skill, but even the first time I saw their live show I knew they weren't playing synths up there.
Seriously? People dumb.
