Couldn't all these  DJ sets be put in one thread?  Or maybe just put on setlist.fm or something?

Why not?  Does anyone really care what a non-dj played in a dj-set?  And if they do care there should be one thread for all of them.  This is like someone starting a new thread every time a new band is announced.  Well actually that would be more useful.
