Title: Mission of Burma

Here is the poster for the Mission of Burma show this Saturday at the Black Cat. They will have Versus opening and performing their entire album VS. This takes me back to my Boston days.

The poster is 3-colors, screenprinted on thick recycled cream paper. The first printing of this got destroyed and only 40 survived. We are reprinting them but until then you can see details at El Jefe Design (http://www.eljefedesign.com)

Any chance you'll have these at Crafty Bastards in Silver Spring?

yeah, I will have roughly five left for the Crafty Bastards Fair including work for Harry and The Potters, The Raveonettes, Wilco, foo Fighters, and other bands.

There are also five that will be featured and sold at  Civilian Art Projects (http://www.civilianartprojects.com)  along with a bunch of other posters. That exhibit opens Friday and will rule. These ten for sale are from the first series and I think the second series will be officially for sale on Monday.

 Thank you for the interest.

I'm being bored-stalked! Help, Kosmo!  :)

Pretty sure if it's gonna be anything, it'll be this since Thievery floors are all gone.

:D      :D      :D      :D   What.  A.  Show!!!  Best one I've seen so far this year.  I heard about MOB's shows since they reunited being stellar but wow, they just killed it tonight.  They owned the stage.  They owned the crowd.  Oh yea, those songs they played weren't half bad either.     ;)    They looked like they were having a blast playing them.  I've always loved Vs but after hearing it all live, I've got a newfound appreciation for it.  It was great to hear some tracks from Obliterati too since I missed them on their last tour.  90 minutes, 2 encores + Academy Fight Song!  Terrific show!!  Only thing missing was a Boston hardcore band opening and stage divers.

Azaghal, please tell me you went to this show and skipped Thievery!

Yes I did go to this show and skipped Thievery.

It was the first time I've ever heard an album played live from start to finish. Very solid show. Very happy with my decision.

I'd love to see Bob Weston back in dc along with Steve Albini and Todd Trainer soon. Seth? Please?

My 3rd MOB show and the best! First time seeing Roger without the rifle-range earphones. This will probably be on top of my best-of-2008 list also (at least for now    :)   )

Highlights for me?  "New Nails", "Einstein's Day", "Weatherbox" and holy shit that version of "Donna Sumeria" that's 100 times better than  on record!  But you know they pretty much killed on every song!

   :D

Yeah I was thinking they'd play it for sure when they came back for the 2nd encore.

umm, I wasn't expecting it. In fact I wasn't even expecting any songs from Signals, Calls and Marches EP cause that's another show...but they did some anyway, just not Revolver.

Same.  I actually wasn't even expecting Academy Fight Song since it hadn't been played at their other Vs. shows.

How was Versus set?  Does anyone have a setlist?  I wanted to go so bad but was in Richmond.  Versus is my favorite band ever, I think.

i'm so pissed that i had silver apples on the same night. two of my favorite bands ever...tough choice. the apples -- well. really just simeon -- were terrific.

i'm glad i've seen burma twice since they reformed. i'm also bummed that i had to miss versus, but i might be bringing them to the velvet lounge in the near future. hopefully...

I made it to both shows, so sometimes the late start at the Velvet is a good thing! Simeon was fantastic. His show was distracted, however, by some terrible dancers who went on stage, including a member of Loto Ball Show who I thought were horrendous.

Please do.  I went for Mission of Burma and came out a fan of both.  I'd never even heard of Versus before this show.  Any recommendations on which album to get of theirs?

Wow, call me AT HOME when Versus signs on for Velvet Lounge!  Do they have a new record in the works?

I would recommend every Versus album except for maybe Deep Red, that one never did much for me.  My favorite is probably Dead Leaves, but I would say Secret Swingers is the best starter, to be followed by The Stars are Insane.

They played a few new songs, so I guess a new record isn't out of the question.  I highly recommend  The Stars Are Insane , but I'm not that familiar with much else.

MoB was great - as usual.  Nice to get a few of the hits during the encore.   Versus were good, but not nearly as good as they were at the Teenbeat birthday gig a few years back.

Excellent show. At first I was bummed that they weren't playing Signals, but the more I listen to Vs. the more it trumps Signals for me. Seeing Einstein's Day live was worth the fifteen bucks alone.

The posters are now available if anyone wants to get one. Pretty short supply as 50 of them got destroyed (thanks FedEx).
