give it to me baby
-
I didn't go, but i can say the bathroom lines sucked.
Just kidding.
-
I didn't go this year, but how did the weather hold up?
-
Weather aside (during Foxygen, argh), I thought it was really well run. This is coming from someone who got to enjoy his first music festival since we had a baby eight months ago (in-laws watched him the whole day), and we have been to a lot of fests pre-baby, so I really made an effort to make the most of the day.
Pavilion access was MUCH easier compared to prior Sweetlifes. I don't know if there wasn't as much demand for pavilion as there was for lawn (which was PACKED) this year, but getting in and out was seamless. Lines for restrooms were tolerable, too.
Really hope you can land some of the same vendors for FreeFest this year. Rappahannock Oyster crab cake for $10 was a STEAL (it's $14 at their Union Market location), and of course amazing.
At any rate, we had a blast. Oh and Seth, if 24oz DC Brau drafts can be a permanent fixture at MPP, that would be swell.
-
I really dug that band SHARK WEEK

hmm.. that sounds yummy... i love that beer....
-
hmm, I guess not that many from the board went to the fest this year. Makes Sethy mad.
;D

It was a blast!!!
I'm glad i paid for pavillion tickets. I had no problem finding a seat.
i really liked where the treehouse stage was located.
9:32 club was killer!
thank you for the yeah yeah yeahs.
I loved the different beer selections. yum.
a lot of fun was had by all my friends and for that I thank you :-*

Fun band.
I saw them on an odd bill with The Babies (meh) and Lorelei (always awesome) once.
-
My kid and her friends had a really good time at the festival. They enjoyed the music and the food. The rain not so much.
-
I can't believe atomicfront missed this festival.
-
Had a great time. Fans inside the shed were great when it was hot and there were a good amount of covered options when the rain came down. Thought the treehouse stage was very, very well stocked...although my favorite band of the day was the YYYs.

i didn't make it to this festival because i had plans earlier in the day, and MPP is a hassle to get to. if i trek out to MPP, i need to do so on the early side so i can beat some of the traffic and get a full day's entertainment in. leaving at 4, spending 2 hours crawling in traffic and risk missing any of the top half of the bill... can't do it. i love MPP as a venue but its remoteness is a big minus.
the lineup was solid and if i had nothing else to do that day i would have made the trip out.

Hmmm... as a local all of these years, you don't know the MPP trick for not hitting traffic?
-
too expensive for a one day fest
-
Sweetcell, there are easy ways to get to MPP where you wont get stuck in traffic for hours. Every time I have went to V Fest, or ANY show (minus the Radiohead show i went to back in 03 when i didnt know the area) I have had no issue getting there.
I agree with Vas. Too expensive for one day. If it had been $50 I would have definitely went.

Likewise, I don't think I've sat in traffic there for over a decade.
-
what is the best way to not get stuck in traffic? 29 S to the MPP exit?
-
I think the best way is to take 175 (Little Patuxent Parkway) off of 95, and head in from the East side. (that is the way i usually take and have not had any issues).

Coming from DC on 29, you skip the first exit on 29 for MPP (Broken Land Parkway), flip a bitch and take the South Entrance Road exit. Pull right into the Howard County Library lot or head into the MPP lot if you so desire.
-
Yeah, traffic isn't generally an issue there, except the last time at FreeFest when they wouldn't let you in the Columbia mall lot.
Is this going to be SOP from now on?
-
yeah, i was scarred by the last freefest. before that i've had good luck getting in and out of MPP, but the last freefest has me worried that we'll be snaking around MPP until we get to lots on the far side of hell.
flip a bitch
haven't heard that in a while!
-
I wasn't sure how to spell u-ie (youie)?? :-\
-
Weird. i was able to park at the mall last year for V Fest... No issue.
-
well my friend who went said he'd post but i'm not seeing it so i'll summarize:
1. the food was unbelievably good..he was very psyched about that
2. the VIP tickets were a bit of a con because they were basically orchestra pit and because i guess the pit was oversold or something if the pit was full when you came back in then you were told to go to one of the loges or something

You can also go to that exit and get over to the left and go straight through the lights and it will take you to the mall parking lot.

... which is great *if* they're letting you park at the mall.
-
yeah..cause Seth asked for driving directions...

They had rent-a-cops at all the mall entrances "profiling" for mall shoppers vs. concert goers. We ended up parking in a big garage over by the bank (I think?). Not that big a deal, but it really snarled traffic around there.
