Title: Interviews with local/DC-related musicians.
Post by: showlistdc on August 21, 2014, 02:44:36 pm
I'm always interested in reading interviews with local (or DC-related) musicians/recording engineers/etc.

So I'll start by sharing an interview I did with King Fowley of Deceased and October 31:

not intending this to be my own clipfile, but I also interviewed J. Robbins about his recent solo recordings, his recording studio Magpie Cage, the possibility of a Jawbox reunion, and his son Cal:

I once ran into Ian McKaye on the Metro and I asked him what his favorite IPA was.

I'm a person just like you. But I've got better things to do. Than sit
around and fuck my head. Hang out with the living dead. Snort white shit up
my nose. Pass out at the shows. I don't even think about speed. That's
 something I just don't need.

 I've got straight edge.
I'm a person just like you. But I've got better things to do than sit around
and smoke dope. 'Cause I know I can cope. Laugh at the thought of eating
ideas. Laught at the thought of sniffing glue. Always gonna keep in touch.
Never want to use a crutch.

Wow, he did a Minor Threat song for you, right there, impromptu on the metro? Wish someone had ruined live music and had the audacity to pull out their cell phone and record it!

I interviewed Katie from Priests and all of Cigarette on WMUC. The Katie interview was good. Cigarette interview was a goofy mess and happened after they played a set. Hoping to have all shows archived on a tumblr site or something soon.
