I am in. I'm driving... I can offer a ride.. no smoking though... My prius will mean the drive will have low environmental impact (FYI)....I will look to get there early to stalk the iguana...Very excited about this show....I had the darndest time using the ticketing system...
-
I'm going too. Still trying to figure out how I'll pull it off, but I'll come up with something. Two seats in the front row center-ish of the 'family circle' balcony. This show is a must-see; I'm psyched.

why did I think of the Goo album cover when I read this..
that would be cool but I got to get back to DC that same night after the show and have the Feelies on Saturday which I really want to go to...
-
Matt Sweeney will be on bass....

The thought of Julian and Hutch on a road trip together almost makes me take you up on this just so I can report back to the board all of our hijinks.
-
I'll be there...5th row! Was originally going to try to see the Feelies in Wilmington, but I have to catch this tour. The Feelies are the night after Iggy. 2 of my favorites right next to each other.
-
Had to decide quickly between 7th row dead center on the floor or front row balcony for far cheaper but opted for the former, fuck it.
-
totally blanked on the pre-sale. Stupid cold. Will have to try tomorrow.

I would try to get something now, I could be wrong (and you might want to verify with one of their reps) but unlike most pre-sales where it's only a certain allotment of tickets it appears that everything is up for sale.
-
There are still orchestra tickets.
-
For whatever reason, my husband does not want to go. Guess I'll be missing out on this one too. Oh well.

This road trip is getting epic.

I'll be taking the train since I can't leave work too early that day, but yeah...it has the makings of being an epic weekend between Iggy/Josh and the Feelies. Need to be back on Saturday relatively early because I'm holding out for the possibility of a Feelies record store day in-store performance.

that would be funny...an Instagram account would have to be opened for this!
-
Actually, I think that would be a great movie. A documentary about concert road trips. With Hutch.
-
I'm in too. Might be my last chance to see Iggy Pop (I never seent him before). And this will also make up for missing Them Crooked Vultures. Pretty excited!

This will be better than Them Crooked Vultures. Iggy never disappoints.

-
looks like the 3rd row pit ticket got sold but they still have 2 dead center balcony (2nd level) seats available for those willing to throw down $87.50
-
Not going to this show...but saw this and had to share.
The best part is look where he is doing it at the lower right

man, what a killer set

man, what a killer set
My only gripe is that I'd LOVE to hear anything from "New Values", which is my favorite LP of his, and the most criminally underrated thing he's ever done. And "Kill City" is up there too.
-
a road trip with Donald trump, to see iggy pop, and maybe bearman would be there. now, that's, a sex machine.

who has an extra? :)

There are still some singles left.

See you all tomorrow night, I'll be in the "Family Circle" balcony, Row A, seats 11 & 9. And on the 4:05 train, in the quiet car, but listening and preparing for Iggy. Lust for Life, baby!
-

I am heading out soon. Its sure to be a blast!

Row AA....I cannot wait!!!
-
So, that was epic.
"c'mere big boy"
-
Epic doesn't even begin to describe it. The performance was stellar. One of my favorite concerts ever.
Oh, I was at the same hotel as the band. I'll just simply say this: I couldn't have had a nicer or favorable interaction with meeting any of them. Fairly short but very sweet.

Pic or it didn't happen! ; )
-
Smackie you know it did. ;) No orgy though, I can promise you that.
-
oh my god the 'c'mere big boy' bit was frickin hilarious. Iggy just launched himself off the stage at that guy. Everybody went down. That was like during the 3rd or 4th song, wasn't it?
Amazing concert all around.
-
Yeah like the third song! No one saw that coming hahaha. I also like how he would not leave the stage. It was his night at the opera and he would not leave until he was good and ready!
-
That was one of my favorite concerts of all time. I cannot stop thinking about how perfect Josh's guitar solo was during "Tonight". Those guys played with such joy. Matt Sweeney and Josh's interplay was just insane. I got to hang out a little with Matt and he's so salt of the earth.
-
Hope this tour somehow makes it to DC, bummed I missed it in Philly.
-
So bummed I missed this :(
-
me too. :(

I'm sorry too. I know how much of a QOTSA fan you are and they were the perfect accompanying band to Iggy. Matt Sweeney and Matt Helders were a terrific rhythm section too. Matt Sweeney and Josh have known each other since they were 19 and you could see that it was a dream come true for them. The magic of it was not lost on them. They were overjoyed and they played their hearts out. When Dean looked at the audience and at Iggy, it was nothing but total awe. This is the show I want to always remember Iggy for. For as much as I loved the 3 Stooges shows I saw, this was on another level and better than any other Iggy solo show I've seen.

Sounds awesome even without Josh and them, I've never gotten to see Iggy and everything I've heard about the shows sounds super fun.
In case you guys didn't catch Iggy and Josh on the Nerdist podcast from a couple weeks back. Super great insight and funny stories from Iggy and Josh's past and working on the record and tour stuff.

This is probably a good thread to drop this in... a very old friend's documentary (which was funded by kickstarter) is getting pretty great reviews.
Check out more information here and you can also now watch on iTunes.

Don't think anyone left that Iggy show disappointed. ;D
"Nightclubbing" was the favorite song that they played....Josh's guitar parts was loud and perfect. It really elevated that song to the next level.
Iggy was genuinely excited to be there and so so funny...
"Turn on the lights or I'll cut your dick off.... this is MY night at the opera!" ;D ;D ;D
Beautiful venue too, btw.
-
yes..venue was amazing.
my favorite song was The Passenger...gave me goosebumps... have always loved that song..first introduced to it by the SIouxsie and the Banshees version on Through the Looking Glass
-
There were so many highlights from this show. The Passenger, Repo Man and Some Weird Sin for sure! That new song Paraguay was really awesome too. I love how it sounded like Iggy fronting QOTSA for some of the new ones. Matt Sweeney on bass was excellent too. I wanna go check out his back catalog now. I would go see this tour again in a heartbeat if it comes to DC or Baltimore. I won't hold my breath on it though. I think its supposed to be a short tour on purpose.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and Iggy certainly had a top shelf group of musicians backing him bringing back the spirit of '77 but to me nothing will top his Stooges 930 set from 2007 for sheer raw intensity (was that really over 9 years ago? jesus)

That was a completely different experience, 2 different eras of Iggy. The funny thing is other than "I Wanna Be your Dog" and maybe "Search and Destroy", solo Iggy has far more recognizable songs: "The Passenger", "Lust for Life", "China Girl". But in terms of solo Iggy shows, this was unbeatable. Seeing the Stooges and seeing a tour like this (in my opinion) are both prime Iggy, but for totally different reasons. I'm probably one of the rare people that can't decide which I enjoyed more.
-
I really REALLY wish I could have caught a show on this tour. I'd be very surprised if this lineup does any more shows beyond what's on the books.
I've seen Iggy many times, and the reconstituted Stooges several times with Ron on guitar. Really wish I'd seen a show with James Williamson, but now that Scott is dead I'd imagine it's just Iggy solo from hear on out.
I'm glad everyone is enjoying these shows so much.

yeah... I'm sort of the same boat.. they were very different shows.. also not just in terms of the songs but the approach ... the Stooges show I thought was more spontaneous whereas the show in Philly was much more professional.... I liked seeing the Berlin era stuff get the professional treatment one time....it deserves it....when you see pictures or read about the few Berlin era shows performed with Bowie it looks like they could barely hold it together....usually playing crummy venues to indifference... here nothing was out of place..everything sounded perfect ..Iggy is the picture of perfect health... at the same time it was very well choreographed/planned out.. I bet if one saw the show again it would be fairly similar...doesn't mean its not a great show....it was magnificent.... the Stooges show was much more by the seat of the pants punk.... to me the material is so different it requires the different appraoch
the Stooges show at the 930 may be my personal favorite show... but its hard to compete with that because I was relatively clueless about Iggy Pop and was in no way expecting it to be so powerful...so I was just overcome with shock.... I thought it would be more of legacy/geezer show and then Iggy comes out and its like 1970 or something? WTF?
I've been reading an interesting Henry Rollins book called Fanatic.... its about his playlists for his radio show and he talks about the different songs and musicians (almost all punk).. and whenever he mentions Iggy he calls him the King of Rock and Roll.... and maybe he really is.....Chuck Berry will always be the man for me but Iggy is just an amazing force of nature..
but yeah.. its amazing how different the two shows were.. I can't get over that... when I remember the Stooges show I kind of remember it in stark black and white.......the Philly show is in bright color.... the Stooges show was confrontational..the band and the audience.... the Philly show I felt the crowd Iggy and the band were one...together... like I said, the Stooges show felt spontaneous.. this one felt crafted, choreographed and very carefully planned and executed....a performance.
if I sound like I'm fawning its because I am.... ;D.. I loved it....
-
Hutch, excellent points. You nailed the difference succinctly. The Stooges were confrontational and raw. Real punk rock. Iggy's show was more polished but about togetherness. Like we were all part of the same purpose. Really brilliantly put.
Here's a terrific article by the way:

I saw the Stooges, once on 9/5/2005 at Bumbershoot Festival, and Iggy solo on 11/6/1990 w/Mano Negra @ Saratoga Winners.
I wonder if he was better in 1990, 2005, or 2016?
The Stooges show made more of a dent on my memory buds. He actually seemed kind of a has-been in 1990.

In my head, it's hard to separate the difference between Manu Negra and Les Negresses Vertes. Two bands I liked but literally haven't listed to in 25 years. Might have to pull out the cassette box and see what i still have.
