I never quite figured out how this little shop with no apparent specialty stayed open as long as it did in such a high-rent district, but it took the tidal wave of the current frozen yogurt craze to push them out, apparently.
-
i'm more pleased with the cupcake bakery boom than the froyo boom.
i never really got froyo or its mass appeal.
-
i cant believe you just said froyo.

I'm a proponent of the froyo. My first love is ice cream, but we're talking 1,000+ calories and 50+ grams of fat all up in there. Froyo, alternatively, is substantially lower in both regards while retaining the appeal and aesthetic of its more fattening cousin.
It's all about maximizing pleasure while moderating consequence.

yes, but can you download frozen yogurt, and taste leaked versions of new flavours that have not hit the scoop yet?
-
i prefer Gelato, myself.
-
where was the cd warehouse located???

i like gelato a lot. but it never crosses my mind to go out in search of it. it's just one of those things i see and think 'oh yeah, that'd be good.'
also relaxer, that is a good point. i'm an ice cream fan... mayhaps i need to look at converting to the froyo camp.

oh i remember it! man that place sucked! not surprised
they were pretty price and if you ever sold them a cd they'd give you a buck for it..
they did had a good dance music section and got some interesting used jazz cds every once in a while..
-
wait, is this frozen yogurt as in REAL frozen yogurt, as in yogurt...that has been frozen? the likes of which you can only seem to get in Southern California?
-
It's probably Frogen Yozurt.
-
Does it come free with a cursed monkey paw?

I used to stop by this store all the time when Smash Records was still in Georgetown. I'd go to Smash for the old/rare stuff and CD Warehouse for newer stuff. Fun times.
Also, TCBY was the shit back in the day, esp. after my Little League games in the hot Chicago summers.

Thank you. Foolishly, I have been quick to dismiss the comments submitted by individuals with whom I may disagree. I now opt to strive for a degree of elegance in my messages. Ms. P's use of 'mayhaps' appealed greatly to this side of my persona.

man, you really fucking hate anyone who has anything to do with a local record store, don't you?
-
People actually shopped in Smash? In my 11 years in DC I never once stepped in there. But then again I avoided Georgetown, although when I did go I kind of liked CD Warehouse.
-
I used to shop at the original Smash all the time. By the time they moved down the street I was listening to a lot less punk, so I only hit that one a few times a year, but I always came away with a ton of music. The new location seems to lack something. I've only been there once and wasn't too impressed. Maybe I need to check it out again.

nonesense.. there are good indie stores in town..just very few..i can't help it that thats the way it is! i've been in dc for 15 years and it used to be better...
SOM records on 14th is highly recommended and i like red onion records on 18th.. also the cd game exchange stores are allright..
man, no need to be rude BOOKERT!

Wait...Smash isn't in G-town anymore? I took me 15 years to adjust to them moving across the street and now this?
Guess i'm slow.

I bought a Pantera disc at CD Warehouse and the music on it was Apartment Life by Ivy. It was for a roadtrip that started then. After I got over the initial let down it was kind of funny. The actual CD had the Cowboys From Hell artwork on it and everything but the music was all wrong. I still have it filed under I next to the real Apartment Life disc.
