I do not recognize the term “hair metal”...

90's grunge was hailed as the antidote to 80's hair metal, but other than a couple of good songs by Nirvana, it really sucked just as much. So any of the 90's grunge bands.

The term hair metal is idiotic

With that rationale the New York Dolls are hair metal?!?

Referring to music in terms of hair is so stupid

I am not so sure pop metal has aged badly...I mean Def Leppard sounds great to me

It's funny that sweets and one other member of this forum consistently rip on two bands I'm a fan of... I'd be willing to bet both of them haven't listened to more than a few minutes of each band.

Additionally, I'd bet dollars to donuts sweets would have the time of his life at a Phish show. Julian on the other hand, is pretty boring so I can see him not enjoying himself.

FWIW, I agree with all of this, including the part where I am boring.

The Clash

Loved em back in the day. Doesn’t really hold up, IMO.

I unfortunately feel they fall under more of the played to death category for me... Same with the talking heads, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Stones, The Beatles, etc.

I know all of their albums front to back but have been listening for 30+ years.

If only some forward thinking person cataloged bands better than The Clash on here at some point.

for ween, you're right.  not sure if i've ever heard more than 2 or 3 songs of theirs.  i poke fun at them because of the fanbase of theirs i've been exposed to: burnouts trying to relive their college days.  obviously not all their fans fit this stereotype.

i'm a little more familiar with phish, and i've even seen them at MPP with my phish-head buddy.  i love a good guitar noodle as much as the next gal, but their music bores me pretty quickly.  luckily the crowd was, uh... interesting to watch ;D  had a good time in the parking lot.

so in summary, it's a bit.  i don't harbor any (very) hard feelings against these two bands, but i don't like them either.

heads, zep, floyd: i can still listen to them, and do.
stones, beatles, clash: haven't held up as well, for me.  still love their music but don't find myself reaching for them.
